I used Mullvad for a couple years. Really like the company. Their price price point was good and their client was simple.
I recently switched to ProtonVPN. The only reason for this was that having paid email and VPN came to $8 and I thought that was a great deal.
Mullvad. Can’t complain, I like their unique flat monthly rate and the CLI application is great.
One of my several favorite things about them is that when you set ff to use one of their wireguard socks5 proxies, IP tests show you as being on ‘modem or landline’ instead of ‘tunnel or proxy’ and recaptcha tests are almost non-existent. They seem a little too good to be true, so maintaining healthy skepticism does not hurt.

Mullvad all the way, baby. You don’t need an account to sign up OR a bank account to pay (you can, but Bitcoin has always been an option), their setup guides are very helpful and they also have Wireguard support. What’s not to like?
Mullvad + wireguard is the best. Using wireguard on Android saved a ton of battery life.
Right? Wireguard is such a godsend for android. I like OpenVPN well enough, but on phones the app burns through the battery like nobody’s business.

If you pay them, yes. It’s a pretty good service, I’m using it for torrenting. In my case there’s zero speed difference when connected to a p2p server

Yep. Not literally zero of course, but I really can’t tell whether I am connected or not to the VPN. I have been plotting the download speed reported by qbittorrent on my raspberry for a few weeks before and after starting to use their p2p vpn, and the difference was very minimal

None. Until now, I’ve not really seen a good reason to use one. If I wanted to do things that are really delicate, I would use Tor, but I’ve used that very rarely. Also, most VPN providers turned out to in fact log despite saying not to, and give that data to other people or governments.
I’m far from an expert on any of this, but I’ve been dabbling a little bit with the free ProtonVPN on my phone.
