100% this! I literally can’t imagine browsing online without one.

Oh man, my memory of the internet is split between before finding out about adblockers and after. It’s a great change

I use Firefox, but I’m quite confident all of these add-ons are available on chromium-based browsers too:

    • uBlock origin - I guess we all know what it does
    • imagus - allows to preview direct urls to images/videos by holding CTRL (or hovering them)
    • vimium - press F to have all the clickable elements of a webpage bind to a keys combination. Basically allows to navigate webpages with the keyboard
    • old reddit redirect - force reddit to display the old UI by redirecting pages to old.reddit.com
    • privacy redirect - force-redirects you to the privacy-respecting alternatives to YouTube, Twitter, Intagram, Maps
    • sponsorblock for youtube - crowdsourced extension that allows to skip product placements in YT videos
    • web archives - allows to see the archived version of a webpage on multiple providers
    • bitwarden’s browser extension if you use it
    • temporary containers - allows to create a temporary container if you quickly need to isolate a site from the rest of your browser storage (firefox only obv)
    • Translate Web Pages - found out about this a few days ago. Works good, I’ve been using it quite often and it’s pretty cool

Edit: added a few extensions to the list

in regards to temporary containers, one alternative to using selectively is to use it in automatic mode, making all domains temporary and pinning tabs where you want sessions to persist. it requires a bit more logging in upfront, but benefits of a small cache (fingerprint) footprint outweigh imo.

Why use temporary containers vs incognito. I know some sites can detect incognito mode. Are there more reasons?

Most of the times I don’t want to have another browser window floating around, or maybe I need to have 3+ accounts logged in on the same site, so I need 2+ different containers. Also all your add-ons will work on the new “temporary contained” tab (I only have uBlock Origin and Decentraleyes configured to work in private mode)

A great resource website as a whole! Have you used any of the ‘Storage Manager’ add ons before? I tend to use add ons exclusively for privacy reasons, but these look quite useful as well.

I use Firefox Multi-Account Containers to jump between Work and Personal stuff. I can also open a lot of mailboxes at the same time with it

You should replace AdBlock by uBlock Origin

Bitwarden. One of the main reasons I switched from KeepassXC was how much easier it is to use.

What’s the benefit over KpXC + syncthing? I use syncthing for syncing all my documents, pictures, etc across all of my devices and my keepass database is one of them and all I need to do is launch the app, enter my password and search for the account/domain and copy the info.

This way I can use it for websites, device encryption keys, app logins, account backup keys, bank codes, etc. I also don’t depend on third-party hosting. Never understood the appeal of cloud-based browser extensions. Especially since firefox has that built in these days.

I tried that for a while, but the autofill was a bit temperamental and switching apps felt a bit tedious.

My phone alse kept killing Syncthing, even after disabling battery optimisations for it. This left me with lots of sync conflicts and I got a bit paranoid about losing passwords. I love the idea of avoiding cloud-based services but it just wasn’t worth the hassle for me.

Thanks! There are a few steps I haven’t tried there - if they work I’ll give keepass+syncthing another chance

Yeah, I have one too :|. Explains why the battery life is so good but damn, you shouldn’t have to uninstall a system app to tweak power saving settings.
