So we don’t have a real alternative, after reading the article.

I use SearX, i don’t think it’s bad, but I’d love for alternatives.

Metager is Open sourced and funded by a non profit. Best search experience I’ve ever had. Plus, it runs on renewable energy.

Does metager do its own crawling? I like searx a lot but its of course true that all it does is aggregate results from other engines.

Metager aggregates searches from a whole lot of search engines.

Searx is pretty good in my experience. It’s just sometimes, the instance that I use occasionally down. When that happened, I use DuckDuckGo. Months ago I used Feneas’ Searx instance but it downs more often though today I haven’t used it since.

A little problem with Searx is just a little trust issue, like can I trust any random Searx instance?

If you don’t trust it, host your own. Zero trust involved. I’ve used searx.be and its been pretty reliable for at least a year now.

      We do. Presearch.

Private, user earns crypto while searching, web3, clean keyword bidding procedure, publishers can advertise for free (ish) via “staking”

Not bad. It’s fast and uBlock Origin hasn’t blocked anything. But, what’s Mojeek’s business model?

I am using qwant. Not opensource, just the maps feature is, but private and with nice results. I prefer it to duckduckgo or mojeek

Fuck NYTimes. Im not paying to read a fucking article. But yeah, i know the founder of Brave is homophobic and never apologized for that. There is a difference between someone being a bigot and homophobic, and being a FASCIST. Calling everybody a fascist only helps real fascists to hide in the confusion. I dont know the person, so i cant call him a fascist, if he ever said something like “the Jewish question” yes, he is a fascist, but just being homophobic doesn’t make him a Nazi, and certainly, that doesn’t make his whole company a fascist company. Probably many people already called him out for his comments. Im not even using the Brave browser anymore, the adds are annoying and all for like 1 dollar a month, and i am bisexual myself. I did a lot of LGBT activism while using the brave browser, so, theres that.

Mainstream media, attacking innovators. Character assasination is what they do best.

Brave is a step forward. I have my thoughts on the founder. Tho those are separate from the products long term viability & potential.

Mozilla now is trying to sabotage web3 decentralized identy. Google is now massively censoring information, and discussion. We can’t trust the old browser duopoly to act in our best interests.
