You’ve probably noticed the increase in posts of upwards of 50 comments in the last few days. All the trolls are out on watch.
This sounds like a fed script almost. It could always just be some bozo, but these taking points seem designed to steer people away from MLism.
As long as you’re an anarchist who acknowledges that the Soviets were better than the US I can respect that perspective. I’ve met too many who just do “authority bad” without analysis on themselves as an alleged authority on authority.
There’s a handful of Anarchist books I plan to read at some point. It’s not necessarily a disqualifier for me, but their presence online could not be worse.
I’ve met too many who also immediately go “I don’t think we’d ever achieve a [stateless classless society] with anarchism”, but it makes them feel better than supporting places like the USSR. It’s exhausting to deal with those types.
I can sympathize with it slightly. I briefly identified as an anarchist. It’s really drilled into you from birth that USSR and communism are evil. Then I actually read some stuff and realized I had been lied to and kept in the dark.
Least glowing anarchist

Those posts are on lemmy.ml. Our website is lemmygrad.ml. They are two different instances of Lemmy, the software that powers this site. The reason you can see the posts on lemmy.ml is because of something called federation which basically allows two instances of Lemmy to talk to each other. We cannot moderate content on lemmy.ml.
I like the federation and hope that lemmygrad.ml isn’t too trigger-happy with de-federating from instances. You only see lemmygrad.ml by default anyway (at least on the web browser and PWA), and have to change to the “all” view to see the federated content.
Agreed. It’s good to see people from other instances posting here to learn about communism
I saw a communist on Reddit ask “why the fuck are we still on Reddit if they’re this hostile to us?!” The reply was that we need to make our ideology and resources known to noncommunists. If we retreat into echo chambers at the first sign of push back, we’ll never amass sufficient support for a revolution.
Oh god I hope they don’t defederate bcs I’m on Lemmy by error lmao
o7 to the brave comrades who infiltrated lemmy.ml
KGB Marshal Frippa sounds nice
You’re always welcome to open an account with lemmygrad as well
Pretty sure you can. Moderators and admins can remove posts from any federated instance from appearing on your instance, ban remote users from your instance, block remote communities, etc. There’s no difference in how it’s done between on instance and off instance material, you press the same buttons to moderate, only difference is that you don’t remove the original content, but you prevent it from being displayed on your instance.
I’m not sure that they are just trolls; many anticommunists consider themselves “leftists”, after all, so lemmy.ml might seem like an alternative to R*ddit. AFAICT these comments are coming from people in the imperial core who haven’t yet realized what their governments are supporting
Threads related to China and/or Russia have been heated for at least a few months now, in my experience
Strong “I support socdems so I’m a socialist” vibes
‘I’m as far left as it gets - I love AOC!’
the only thing far-left about AOC will be her placement by The Wall™
absolutely based
For many in the imperial core, this mental step is a necessary first one to becoming a Marxist. Red scare is an inter-generational trauma that can’t easily be dismissed.
It’s their ignorant confidence that annoys me
literally, you can feel the misplaced smug bastard smirking chauvinistically through the screen
😏
Same here. I was vaguely socdem for many years before learning about Marxism, but I never understood why people can be so consistently smug despite being thoroughly uninformed
any Parenti is good Parenti
Last night I dreamt of unyellowed Parenti. I should be grateful even if I missed his natural hue
The Simpsons was actually based on Parenti
You can make that dream a reality if you search my name on YouTube!
More users more trolls, that’s how it goes. I saw a few Lemmy recommendations for tech on various reddit subs, so that’s where the demographics are coming from.
Upside is unlike reddit more chances for instigation without eating 15 banhammer accounts. Then again, tech types tend to be exclusively petite-bourgeois (if not outright bourgeois), but who’s to say we can’t rustle up a few class traitors with enough effort?
These tech bros haven’t felt our idea’s force truly upon them yet.
I keep seeing random undeserved downvotes over here the last few days and it’s like a few on the flagship finally realized they can cross over and silently spread their incorrect opinion. Now it makes sense since others are seeing it too.
Maybe it’s just a sign too that Lemmy is doing well. Dissent and trolling comes with that I guess.
Problem is, there is gazillion of posts with barely any comments, few with several comments and few, all of them political, filled to the brim with dozens of bootlicker comments. That is textbook brigading, and this one is additionally glowing brightly.
On lemmy.ml? I haven’t noticed significant spamming on “All”
Yeah there isn’t, that’s one more signature of brigading, only selected threads are invaded. And in those threads you can notice it is literally few people making most of the posts, so, back to the post i was responding - i don’t think Lemmy is doing particularly good, if anything Lemmygrad seems more active (i can be wrong i’m not sure how the federating works, i do not even see any lemmy posts on lemmygrad, but i do see some people from lemmy).
Oh, I see (I think of “posts” as threads). There certainly has been a flood of anticommunist comments in some lemmy.ml threads recently
(@CriticalResist8 posted about federation earlier today, for those who are confused about how it works)
Thanks for the link, i just never set it on “all”, after doing that it works exactly as described.
I would wonder if some of them are bots. I’ve also noticed recently that the iOS app seems to allow hitting submit a few times, resulting in the same post (sorry). Not the same issue but Im saying in terms of literally raw posts, my comments seem to hit twice sometimes xD
As I understand it, Lemmy still has moderators at least.
Yeah, we luckily we have more control over the user base. Purge if need be? But I haven’t noticed it being “a problem” yet.
All is chaos on heaven, earth, and lemmygrad. The situation is excellent.
Prepare for the brigades to here.
I think we’ll be fine as long as we report anticommunist comments
If shit gets too bad then our admins can just block whole lemmy instances.
They wouldn’t dare, as they would be unable
I’ve noticed that as well. I find there is a handful of tropes that these people use, and you can just keep a few canned replies for each of them. I find the most effective approach is to have polite replies that provide lots of sources showing how their points are wrong. Typically they just slink away after that.
Having a set of canned replies with solid sources is a great idea. I’d imagine it would shut down most of the people acting in bad faith
Yup, and it also helps educate other people reading the thread. :)
I’ll work with other admins to make a post explaining what Lemmy is.

they’re text walling you in pms?
Oh hey that’s the UK apologist in the screenshot lol
I couldn’t see the pic yet I still somehow knew it was him

Their last comment w/ “what if the reds killed your 5 year old daughter tho???” nonsense was really stupid.
Yeah I wonder how they’d feel if they had their family butchered by the Brits/Germans/Americans or Japanese huh…

Lol reading Catra’s banned comments in the modlog was a treat 🤣
I am glad to be a source of knowledge and humor

Lmao I think some butthurt lib is down voting all ur stuff checking ur profile, whanmt not enough sunlight does to a mf
they even replied to me in my tankie tunes community when I briefly mentioned it! He keeps following me around!
Send me the link to his comment and I’ll ban him from the instance. You’ll still see him on lemmy, but that will prevent him from following you here.
Weirdly, his comments don’t show up on lemmygrad at all. He was already banned before them so it must be a quirk of federation. I’ll bring it up with the dev team.
If he bothers you again or anyone else does contact an admin, we’ll try to take care of it. In the meantime blocking users should prevent them from contacting you across all instances.
libs lurking in the shadows…
They only hide in the shadows because our badhammers would purge them in an instant if they showed their face.
What happened lmao I’m on jerboa and can’t see tha modlog
Lol just catra telling glowies to get a grip.

Yep, the main lemmy instance is evidence if more were needed that freedom of speech is a bad idea.
Freedom of speech is idealism, and has never existed! Of course you are still right, liberal speech should be censored.
Well, we know that, but it’s amazing how hard it is to make people understand that their speech has always been limited and always will be.
its what you get when you “free speech land” peoples brains, without those people ever questioning how easily they could lose it.
Well, yeah most of liberals’ arrogant stupidity is the result of intergenerational indoctrination. But even now, there is no such thing as truly free speech, it’s just a question of who decides the limits, and to what end?
Ah great, they’ve found us.
Let them come. This is our online space, they can’t do anything to us here other than scream and cry.
But have you considered they can make fun of us in their own communities???
Honestly, let them come. When I somehow found my way to GenZedong I actually became a tankie lmao
