Does this mean, we don’t have to follow certain rules and we can conduct massive raid reddit operation? We can literally do that since there is no rule about that.

Turns out there’s lots of stuff Reddit admins don’t like you saying

    • Death to all slave owners
    • Nazis get the pit
    • Founding a social website posturing as a free speech space so that you can facilitate child pornography rings is bad and makes you deserving of painful death

You know, stuff like that. Stuff they have a personal stake in.

Reddit was actually really good back in the day when digg shit the bed. But then it got too popular and it became a target of astroturfing from mostly Western anglo countries who identified it as a prime tool for modern viral propaganda.

At the very least, they knew about it early on and did the bare minimum that they were legally and financially obligated to. Their pivot as a startup may as well have been banning r/jailbait

imma make use of my freedom of speech, don’t mind me just venting and saying whatever would get me banned on reddit:

    • God, Syria and Assad!
    • Death to america
    • Mao was right about landlords
    • world would be a better place if Stalin gulag’d more people
    • allowing germany to exist as a nation after ww2 was a mistake
    • I don’t like Putin but i’d rather have him than NATO
    • Ukraine is not winning and Zelensky is just playing soldier for the cameras well away from the front
    • repression of reactionary forces is cool and good
    • China is more democratic than any western country and Xi is the real leader of the free world
    • i have leaked insider information from the swiss government and i don’t regret it one bit

Serious question, what’s your thought process? I get removing them during war because they’re a threat to the working class. Afterwards, when a worker’s state has firmly been established, further deaths don’t necessarily serve an end.

Wrathful venting mostly; you’re right about ‘after the worker’s state being firmly established’. With the American propaganda poisoning being what it is, though, I foresee at least a half-century of overt struggle against those who will inevitably dig their feet in specifically on contrarian grounds.

i was at an internship working for the local government and i took a picture of a confidential document detailing horrid conditions in some refugee centers + some degree of evidence that the local police apparatus was geared towards intimidating minorities in order to discourage them from applying for naturalization or work permits and whatnot. Direct links to a prominent politician. The news broke out (partially because of me, sent the stuff to my father’s newspaper anonymously) and there was a bit of an actual ruckus because of it. People were calling for that politician to get impeached.

Nothing happened in the end, but at least people talked about it

Probably not as ‘James Bond’ as they’re making it sound, and more like accidently posted a pic with some private info in the corner.

you can check my other answer, i did write it in a way that sounds bondlike but it wasn’t that trivial either.

On top of that i know for a fact that i am on some sort of list so i got that to boast about too

Yes. No ads. Admins are comrades. Community is responsive to feedback. Mods don’t need to self censor to please capital. You could run your own server off a $30 raspberry pi in your house and it would federate with this community out of the box. This is not neoliberal “freedom”. This is self-determination and collective action. In other words, it’s what we would have all been doing if capital hadn’t commodified these behaviors.

Honestly never understood why leftists don’t use the internet more to their advantage like right-wingers and glowies do. Small numbers mean nothing when you’re able to use 1.) bots, 2.) the algorithms against social media platforms. An unusually large amount of upvotes, retweets, views, awards, shares, etc within the first couple minutes of posting gains a post so much traction it’ll just take off on its own at that point. Which is why reddit, twitter, etc front pages look the way they do.

As Marxists we know where the prevalent morals at any given point in time come from, what they are reflective of and who/what they serve. Clinging to morals that help the bourgeoisie is bourgeois. We need revolutionary morals.

We need to stop deluding ourselves into thinking hundreds of millions or billions of people will suddenly become communists if we just hand out Kapital copies everywhere and spam the internet with marxists.org links. This pure revolution where everyone was included simply by the merit of the arguments is an idealist, utopian fantasy. We need to stop thinking petty things like creating engagement is beneath us and we need to start using the tools of the bourgeoisie against it when they’re handed to us on a silver plate like this.

Reddit is literally designed to facilitate astroturfing. If you can focus on small yet growing subs, you can get a relatively small post to the front page pretty reliably

Exactly. They really all are. That’s the entire logic of social media. Whatever generates traffic and engagement will get big.

I’m pretty damn sure a handful of people working in tandem could’ve reliably made the front-page on GZD, despite its tens of thousands of members. Doesn’t even matter if you get hundreds of screeching libs in the comments, because that just means more views, traffic, shares, etc.

small sidenote: some time in 2011/2012, there was an article in some electronic music magazine about fake accounts from all sorts of undemocratic states being used to fill the likes on facebooks of artists like David Guetta, Umek and many many other large deejays. most of the clicks came from Pakistan, Egypt, Bulgaria, Albania, Slovakia, Oman, UAE, Saudi Arabia e.t.c. at a time when these places neither had a proper club life or electronic music industry (this came later with the beginning of EDM festivals and the full on commercialisation of the rave scene by a single event management corporation (with a very very dubious head and pretty rightwing, casino/trump related people).

this was the test run and the electronic music industry has always been a hiding and funding spot for rightwing extremism, be it the techno demonstrations in tiflis or ukraine (where techno and nationalism are hand in hand), the takeover by identitarians of the european electronic music scenes back down to all the history described in certain movies about the british ICF hooligan gangs and the rise of the acid house movement.

as much as i love partying, the industry is fucking sinister and it used to be/is the testing ground for so much social engineering

another bonus is we won’t be subject to as many raids from reddit. Like how many members of Genzedong, especially when big influxes of people joined, were just trolls and bots? Hardly anyone in bad faith will find this place. If a raid were conducted from this platform some redditor can’t just click on their user profile and trace them back to here easily

imma be real. It’s almost a good thing the subreddit is over. Sure a lot of material has been lost, but now we have a safer platform and a community dedicated enough to show up in another website. This is something we can build upon, while on reddit it always was a matter of “how big can we get until we inevitably get banned”.

Now we have a solid core of comrades and history has definitely started moving forward.

Well they’d ban the accounts i guess. But it would be nice to have some back up in debates sometimes. Usually I get jumped by 10 different accounts and i respond to everybody and most shut up and lose but some go to the death

They do account bans less often than you’d think. They’re much more worried about vote manipulation (which is the only reason they booted r/T_D) than about comment brigades and upvoting each others’ stuff there
