  • The major contradictions have to do with labor bureaucracies that emerge as a function of organizing labor within a system that down to its very core exploits labor. Unions are not revolutionary formations which seek to abolish the class based caste system of capitalism. Some of the things that a union might do for their members might be bad for the class in general, as it privileges workers in the union without necessarily showing class solidarity. As a rule if thumb, I think: what is good for the union isn’t necessarily good for the working class, but what is bad for the union is always bad for the working class. You can be in a union and be a communist, honestly i think this obsession with having the perfect line on every issue is a kind of defeatism (this isn’t a criticism, just an aside, don’t mind me).

  • Re Discord, I’m in a Marxist bookclub server on discord and people are very hesitant to try anything else. Its kind of disappointing. The owner of the server says it will be fine because it isnt a “community server” but the way discord won’t run without google play services on android concerned the hell out of me, and now I won’tinstall it. Going to try and find communities in federated spaces and elsewhere, and maybe I’m just paranoid, but to me when 1/10 avowed communists cares about privacy and security while the other 9 use reddit, Facebook, twitter, etc., we are one “Palmer Raid” away from serious consequences

  • Learn to code

I went to a codingbootcamop a couple of years ago and got hired shortly after I graduated. Gave myself a 20k raise. My friends and I play elden ring all day and get paid. My friend who inspired me to get into tech makes like double my salary and just bosses around engineers all day. Last week her boss told her to be less intimidating, then gave her a raise. Its not for everyone and there are never guarantees but Ive learned a ton of shit in the last couple of years, bought a house and a new car. I had to cash out my 401k to live off of while I was going to school, so I was lucky to have a little bit sacked away even if I had to quit my job to get to it.

Otherwise you could start a painting company or something, its not easy but you can make good money by just being able to like talk to people and get jobs.

I don’t have a strategy guide but I could tell you what I know about those two things

  • Literally every left space that I am in: online, IRL and blended, there are people posting and ranting about V*ush and people who are like “who is Vaush?”

So yeah, passing around screen shots of his intentionally controversial takes, and creating a space for sharing them is giving his ideas a platform. If we just ignored him then he would just migrate to the right, like he is going to do anyway in the next 5 - 10 years if not earlier.

Peace and love but I dont get it, what’s the point? Do you really need to like share in the promotion of his brand of controversy? To create a space for it? These things help him.
