It’s @nutomic@lemmy.ml’s instance. I believe he has notified for quite a while now that he’s working on Lemmy mostly these days and no longer has time for the Peertube instance.
Wish more information be released on why it is happening. If @nutomic@lemmy.ml needs some help for moderation, I am sure there are volunteers including me. If it is financial issue, there is no harm for requesting support.
Its really lack of interest, I havent visited peertube.social in like a year, and the only other admin who used to be active also hasnt done anything in like six months. Having an extra admin wouldnt fix that. And I dont want to transfer the instance to someone else, because I dont know if they can be trusted with the user data. Shutting it down is simply the easiest option.
Thanks for your reply. Though Fediverse is independent from instances ,but it doesn’t give good feeling when one sees instances like this go down.
I understand but I hope there be some way to save the instance. What about FSFE which is sponsor of the instance?
You may want to consult the data hoarders of Reddit, they may be interested in this.
Also I am looking for a good peertube server as my home. Just to have an account for likes and comments and stuff

If one only needs a “viewer account”, I would encourage to really use the Mastodon account. I find this the simplest and quickest solution across multiple Peertube instances. At least I can say it works for me flawlessly.

May I ask what a “video-watching interface” actually is? I have never heard of this, and a quick internet search did not provide any useful information either.

Got it. Thank you for clarification. Yes, that I understand perfectly. I do the same, if possible. I just comment using Mastodon account instead of any particular Peertube account, but watching videos with Mastodon is much less comfortable, true.

How about for hosting content?
Hosting as your own instance, or hosting as uploading your videos? Either way, I have no knowledge in these regards, so I am afraid I will not be able to help you in any meaningful way. You will definitely need a PeerTube instance with your own PeerTube account, AFAIK. If you want to simply have a place to post your videos, the simplest solution would be to find an instance that suits your needs and requirements the best. I would take a look at joinpeertube.org site probably for that, but other than that, I have no idea.
@deadsuperhero@lemmy.ml just started a new instance. It is invite-only. For info see this toot. Tilvids is also a nice instance.
Oh no I have an account there 😯
