You guys drink any alcohol? Or none at all?

I drink a beer or two on the weekends most of the time and none during the week. Though there are some times where I dont drink for weeks on ends I do like it better for my overal mental health if I can go to the bar with my gf or friends every now and then.

I make sure that I haven’t worked out the day or two days before though.

What about you guys?

Alcohol at certain doses affects the muscle synthesis process, which essentially means less gains. However I’m not clear on the numbers themselves.

What I do is avoid drinking alcohol the days I went to the gym, but I don’t drink much in the first place and I don’t think one beer is going to do that much damage.

I remember I had a convo w a friend about this, one or two beers won’t make a noticeable difference, it’s more about like having several beers or if you have liquor which is way worse for muscle growth and your stomach than beer

Not yet, I’m one year away from legal 18. Am I planning to drink alocholic beverages? Never. I’ll stick to water thank you very much.

Yep. Im a weekend drinker and still improve in my martial arts and strength. You’re not going to lose your gains after drinking a beer or two. Binge drinking on the other hand is terrible.

I made a rule for myself that I don’t drink at home, and never in weekdays. I end up only drinking at the local breweries in my small town and I like it better this way because I only have a few drinks per week and it’s always excellent beer.

From personal experience spirits should be kept to a minimum or at least their mixing with sweet drinks. I’m lucky I don’t tolerate sweets and like sour stuff, so the times I get really drunk are usually with wine which is very enjoyable and not as unhealthy.

I barely get hungover on those punctual occasions of heavy drinking because of that and there’s a very good friend called water which helps tremendously, even just 2 glasses before crashing in bed are a major help.

The day after I don’t lift but I can easily play some footy or go running. I don’t feel any difference during the week either. The trick is getting hammered but healthily, if that makes any sense

You’re doing great if you avoid it during the week especially.

I go through phases, as long as its within your calorie budget, and you can control yourself, I think its fine to drink.

I’ve been switching to more coffee, tea, and weed tho cause I’m doing a calorie deficit. Alcohol is a LOT of empty calories, that just makes you crave food. Its also expensive (a six pack of craft beer is like 2$ / beer nowadays ).

Mate get the St.Bernardus beer holy shit best one I’ve ever had. All of them are good even if you don’t like strong beers, except the Tokyo one. That one is just a weird experiment.

The St. Bernardus is amazing. I use the Abt 12 to cook a stew sometimes, which is great because you rarely have to use the whole bottle. So you get a great meal and beer as well.

Because it contains alcohol the Belgian beer rarely gets seen as a culinary art, which it is imo. So many great and unique flavors made by great craftmanship. Even the form of the glass gets researched to enhance the flavors.

I don’t train much because I’ve been low on time, but I get drunk like a drunken drunkard, I am pretty slim so I assume the little fat I have must be relsted to that, since I don’t eat anything to shitty unless on rare ocasions.

I don’t drink or do any drugs, any that I’ve tried either just made me sick or put me in a bad mental space. I’m pretty sensitive to things messing with my biochemistry I guess. I should work out more though and get rid of this belly I got goin on.

I refuse to drink out of support for a close family member who has very very recently quit drinking bc of their Alcoholism. I for one love Vodka, I can toss back a bottle in a night if I’m sharing with a friend. I can hold my liquor better than most for my age but tbh I could take it or leave it and when I heard about my family member and how they felt so awful and ashamed for their drinking problem, I figured it was like 2 birds 1 stone, I can support my loved one and not tempt them w liquor, and also Liquor isn’t good so it’s for the best I suppose. Kinda awkward tho bc my 21st bday is around the corner and it’s kinda funny that I basically quit drinking before the law even let me have a sip.

I went sober for about 8 months and to my surprise it didn’t bother me in any way. Alcohol free beer is good these days if you want to enjoy the freshness of beer and other drinks do just fine. I’m incredibly high energy by myself so going out was no difference and I slept like a rose most days.

I drink reasonable amounts now when I’m out but a life free of alcohol would be no problem at all.

Good of you that you support your loved one. Your support means the world to them, I can promise you that.

Sometimes on weekends when I feel like it I crack open a few beers. Otherwise I keep sober, unless there is a special day and/or I’m with nice people and the mood is right.

I don’t work out or do exercises on the days where I do happen to drink. But I try to do at least some exercises every day.

I try to only drink on weekends. It used to be one of my strongest held rules. Lately works been such a removed I’ve broken this rule and have a few drinks throughout the week. I never get drunk on a work night though. I also haven’t had time to work out for several weeks now which is al when the drinkings been going on so I can’t says how it affects my workout. If I can just make it past this BS at work and get back to working out properly I think my use will go back down as well.
