The hypocrisies of EGS and Tim Sweeney laid bare. Good. I am so sick of his whole “we’re doing this for the little guy” shtick. Let it be known far and wide that Sweeney is doing this for one thing and one thing only: mo’ money.
A gaming giant with a market value of gorillions of dollars standing up for the little guy? One of the fiercest tricks the devil ever pulled.
I hate this launcher…
I use GOG Galaxy, and have it launch the Epic Game Launcher when required, and kill it when the game is closed.
Still no Linux support on GOG Galaxy ;(
There’s Minigalaxy which lets you run your games but its functionality is pretty bare bones, but yeah.
I do exactly the same! I hate Epic Games’ launcher as much as EA’s launcher (Origin, which is also horrible). Good thing EA finally got their act together and created EA Play to replace Origin (and it works much better, and is better designed).
HeroicGamesLauncher is A Native GUI Epic Games Launcher for Linux, Windows and Mac.
This is great. Thanks @Helix@feddit.de :)
I hate EGS, (apart for not being FOSS) It’s just bad, but really. Compared to Steam in terms of functionality it just does nothing. And it doesn’t work on Linux…

The bit about exclusivity is what I’d like people to understand when they argue Epic Games Store is good because it forces competition. We’re just heading towards the same disaster as VOD services where they all have their own set of exclusives and all 10 of them want their 10e/month. Or like Anime VOD services where essentially only Crunchyroll is allowed to operate as they hold the vast majority of licences. Then you have a situation where Crunchyroll still has a fucking Flash Player in 2018 because they don’t have to give a shit.
Crunchyroll was actually just bought last week by Funanimation’s parent company, so yay, I don’t really like the sound of that…
name a games store that doesn’t suck
using proprietary software to sell other proprietary softwares
It’s a perfect storm
