- The entire US public school system was taken over by Google, Microsoft and Apple.
- Schools have good intentions but cannot spend a lot of time to adapt, thus prioritizing short-term/quick solutions.
- Some examples of using #freeSoftware in schools.
“My sister’s university is subscribed to the educational suites of both Microsoft and Google. Lectures are delivered on Microsoft Teams”
My university is going to set up a Mattermost service because every major and student club is using Discord, even some classes are using it, which is a shame. What also really bothers me is that since the crisis began a year ago, we’re still using Blackboard Collaborate which is proprietary, I don’t see why we don’t use BigBlueButton
Try expose the problem to the directors board they maybe unware of whats going on, that students privacy being compromissed
One of my CS professors is a open-source advocate, he has a GNU Project sticker on his laptop, so I think he understands the situation

At the end of class show him this
The university I work at was full Foss until 3 years ago. I liked that plus it is literally called “université libre”.
Last week they forced the last of us from their email to outlook.
It was cheaper to go full Micro$hit than to scale the email service.
Owncloud is still running but good luck getting someone to use it when they have that sweet sweet onedrive integration …
You need leadership that understand the long term impact of those issues over the yearly bill.
