I’m looking for something I can use on my laptop. The official spotify client works, but it’s a bit slow so was wondering if there are alternatives.
I got a spotify account, so would like to be able to use this one with it.

There’s Spot: https://github.com/xou816/spot which is a GTK client.
It has limited functionality at the moment but enough to find and listen to music.

There is also spotifyd but I think development on it is a bit slow.
Mopidy works well but is also slow.
There’s https://github.com/jpochyla/psst. It works pretty well, although I do believe it needs premium.
Can I use any of these without an account? Is there a way to skip ads? I closed my Spotify account when I heard about their censorship - but, i really used it anyway because of the ads.
