AKSHUALLY, this is all ironic, it’s a form of performance art meant to raise awareness for the problem of anti-Semitism. You can see the true leftist intent of this protest in the red and black flag, meant to symbolize anarcho-communism.

What does that red and black flag mean? I saw two lads on an electric scooter with one Ukrainian flag and one of those red and black flags in their hands in the city a few days ago. They hit a curb and fell flat on their face.

It’s the flag of the formal UPA (Ukrainian Insurgent Army), which fought against the Soviet Union and Poland before and during WW2. Now it’s used by the Organisation of Ukrainian Nationalist (OUN), according to Wiki (so it cold be false) it’s supposed to mean “Ukrainian red blood spilled on Ukrainian black earth”

Oh! Saw a small group of Ukraine flag wavers months ago and one of them was repping the red and black.

Also, “Ukrainian red blood spilled on Ukrainian black earth” low-key sounds like “blood and soil” 😬

“You see, black earth is a metaphor for the historical othering of Africa by white Europeans, and blood is metaphor for the slave trade. The Ukrainians are actually showing solidarity with people of color in the global south, and bravely telling us that Uighurs, African-Americans, and the free people of Ukraine are all united in a single struggle against prejudice and colonial oppression.” – Salon or the New York Times in about three weeks

The OUN […] similarly introduced a range of fascist principles and rituals, which became obligatory for all members of the movement, and which, after the establishment of the Ukrainian state, were to become obligatory for all citizens. The red-and-black flag, which symbolizes blood and soil (Ger. Blut und Boden), was one of them. These colors referred to the racist and proto-fascist German blood and soil ideology, which suggests the inseparability of a people (Rasse or Volk) and their “living space” (Lebensraum) as well as an attraction to the “soil,” which acquired spiritual and mythological connotations.

      NaZIS on BoTh SiDEs

People say this kind of stuff when you mention Nazis in Ukraine, but like…what am I supposed to take away from this? Are the Nazis in Ukraine preferable to the Nazis in Russia?

Right? Like, if you genuinely believe they both have Nazis, why are you supporting one side over the other? I would give them credit if they’d just say “fuck both of them, let’s stay out of it.”

Another nuance liberals miss is that there are nazis legally incorporated into their society. You can’t the same about Russia (or at least, it’s not to the extent of the Bandera worship in Ukraine 😬). How does that not raise questions about how Ukrainian society is at large? It doesn’t take that many fascists to overtake a society???

The US will come in and make things better though 🤡!

I think libs take the comments about Nazis in Ukraine as us saying “all Ukrainians are Nazis” rather than “there are Nazis in power in the Ukraine and they have ingrained fascism into their society”.

They’re purposely playing dumb about it. Saying there are Nazis in Ukraine isn’t propaganda nor is it an allegation, it’s an observable fact. The only possible way to spin that in a way that makes you look “good” is to claim that someone is saying every single person in Ukraine is a goose stepping fascist, which is of course untrue.

That’s how you know they don’t actually give a shit. We say Azov, they say Wagner, as if Azov and their multiple, well documented crimes against humanity are suddenly okay just because the Russians have nazis too.
