This guide explains what is KDE Connect and its features, how to install KDE connect in various Linux platforms and Android and finally how to sync Android phone with Linux desktop using KDE connect in order to access files and notifications from Android devices to Linux and vice versa.

There is really rich functionality to be made use of with this integration. I just wish that this was also possible for iPhones (but Steve declared that it was not to be because we hold it incorrectly…)

People don’t even know how amazing KDE connect is until they try it.

I use it for everything. Remote input allows me to use my computer while I lay on the sofa.

I tried it, but my devices couldn’t find each other, probably because my WLAN has another network range than my LAN.

I have a LAN/WAN/DMZ/WLAN setup at home with a hardware firewall behind my ISP router. I don’t really feel the need to change that either. :D

there is no reason it shouldn’t work accross subnet if you open the right ports and input the IP manually for the first run. All of that is explained in op’s link.

I tried it again and it looks like it works now as expected. When I tried it previously it worked for some minutes and then the connection broke. Glad to see, that they were able to manage this scenario now better 😊

I never noticed it was making any real difference on my Android phone, but it is easy to double-check under battery usage stats per app.
