Well, that way you’re able to follow the plot i.e. remember what’s going on and don’t need recaps

Also, if you’re travelling or have to wait for many hours, by binge watching you can make the time very manageable

It also means that the show can have more intricate story arcs. When an important detail got dropped at the beginning of a show and you’re binging, you are fairly likely to remember it. Contrast that with a 20 episode season spread over most of a year where you’re likely to have forgotten half of what went on.

It doesnt occupy your attention uncomfortably. You never ask yourself what will happen next, because all you need to do i keep watching instead of waiting for the next episode to come out.

Is that a good thing? If the media is good, don’t you want time to think about it and ponder what might happen next?

Its a matter of taste. For myself, I don’t like my pace being effected by a release schedule, and I generally have plenty of other (more important) things competing for my attention.

If it’s short and I can binge it in a night, it’s worth it. I find it really comforting when I start a short anime or tv show that excites me, and become invested-enough to finish it over the course of a night. The impact of watching something like that in one sitting feels like an amplified movie. It’s overwhelming in a cool way, because you now have the whole story’s events to think about at once. Also, you can rest easy knowing the story is complete. I can’t justify binge-watching longer shows though. I feel gross everytime I do and I usually don’t remember much.

If it’s bad, but a media you need to consume for whatever reason, it can be over faster

Learning languages like Japanese using animes, English with whatever show you like, … but it requires an active effort mostly if the language is too different from the ones you know well.

For socializing with people you like that consume same media, …

I do not like to do things like that for pure pleasure unless it is an work of art I really love.
