How do you feel about self promotion here?

I am building a similar service to lemmy, and in an ideal world when both of platforms will be done with ActivityPub server to server implementation the communities will be able to interact.

I want to know if it would be OK for me to mention my project here, or it would be a tacky move.

Very supported, as long as it doesn’t get too spammy, and is on the appropriate communities. Activitypub projects are very welcome here.

I don’t think it matters so long as you don’t bother anyone.

Some more details about my project, without giving up too many specifics:

It’s based on Go, so any Go developers interested in ActivityPub are welcome to take a look.

It’s one of the few attempts at using the ActivityPub as a Client to Server protocol.

It has a demo instance up if anyone would be interested in trying.

It’s even more minimalist in interface than lemmy - going for that brutalist esthetic.

I think it really depends on the delivery - right now Lemmy doesn’t have much content so the standards are really low but low effort self promotion is definitely distracting.

As far as littr.me goes, I am a bit confused as to why the comments thread is called a ‘link’ over there…?

Because it’s a permalink I guess. It’s not set in stone though.

PS. Sorry for the late reply, been a bit out of the social loop.
