They have “works” about BLM protests, Amazon unions, police brutality. It’s horrifying. What’s the reason that site has amassed that type of userbase? Does it really lack moderation?
yes, its full of fucking CP and several types of disgusting pornography. Some libs defend it saying “its written so its not actually porn” and other pathetic arguments. Their politics is mostly neoliberal, perhaps due to the amount of liberal media. I always read their versions of activism that they would clumsily shove in with much distaste, although I’m mostly able to avoid it. They abuse stories and characters to live out their neoliberal fantasies. The author I mentioned earlier has stories in this range with a huge following, but I didn’t think they would make a fanfic about a fucking active warzone, I find it extremely distasteful, you just don’t fucking do that

“Lemmy app” usually means that it’s an app for lemmy software, not specifically the guys at lemmy.ml who run a copy for themselves. I use Jerboa on Android, and you just select lemmygrad.ml as one of the instances. Lemmur had the option to type an instance but it didn’t work for lemmygrad for some reason.

There’s a question I wanted to ask for a while, so might as well use the opportunity.
So DPRK is usually listed as an AES country, from what I’ve seen. Now, I know too little about their political system, and frankly too little actual Marxist theory, so perhaps it makes sense. But here’s the question: why have all leaders of the DPRK were from the same family? Coincidence? Symbolism? Does such apparent heredity not contradict the socialist concept?

To them it’s “humanitary” interventionism, they believe whatever they want to believe to make themselves look like the good guys.
The guys I’m talking about seem to see themselves as different from “neocons”, which they correctly identify as warhawks. They see themselves opposing those factions of the right which pushed for those wars (at least for the moment). Idk if they’d call themselves that, but to me they kinda sound like some mythical “classical conservative” - conservative conservatives if you want.

Watch from about minute 52:00. Absolutely fascinating watching these guys wrestle with the contradictions in capitalism and imperialism of which they are kinda aware of, but that they can’t really reconcile with their current framework.
This livestream was wild. I only watched 20 mins after the 52:00 mark but these guys will describe the bourgeoisie perfectly, recognize the difference in how this “elite” group acts versus what the average American/“Western citizen” supports and then just… shit on Marxists.
Also at one point one of them mentions the “socialist/Marxist” perception of Americans as warmongerers is incorrect because most Americans aren’t fervent supporters of war (which wasn’t at all the case for the war in Iraq, which 73% of Americans supported, but whatever) and like, even if this were true, my perception is that most Americans would oppose a war ideologically until they saw the material consequences of that (i.e. decline in their quality of life and/or scarcity of consumer goods).
My quasi-fascist step-dad thinks I’m some sort of conservative because I hate liberals, not knowing I mean him too.

There are radio commercials in the country I live in that make fun of the insane inflation and then say: but at our stores you will find lower prices!!! Like, my brother in Allah your insane profit driven incentive is a big reason the prices are this high.
