Humanity won’t end either most likely, but a majority of us might die off. Therefore, society ending is definitely on the table.

Many people are already dying from climate change every single day, mostly the poor of the world, and therefore mainstream Western media doesn’t really care enough to publicize it. It’s no longer about preventing it, but trying to save as many lives as we can. Be active in advocacy.

I’m norwegian and I just can’t comprehend our irresponsible mentality on climate change. We discuss this issue as if we are abusing drugs and pretend like we need our next high because the last high was so good. We are completely ignoring how our activities are breaking down our body, our earth. We need to plan how to remove our addiction, but we can’t see a future without it.

We say stuff like, “drinking might be bad, but just look at our smoking, that’s much worse! We have to focus on stopping our smoking before we stop drinking.” And “if I stop smoking, I’m just going to drink more.”

It’s easier to envision our death than a life without oil.

Another potential reason for such dramatic consequences of wildfires and floods could be a poor funding of public sector due to ongoing crisis. So, climate change topic could be very convenient excuse in this case.
PS I’m not denying or promoting the climate change topic

To add to this, ocean acidification reduces the efficiency of shell formation. Since shells are calcium carbonate and therefore a base, it’s basically trying to neutralize the acid at the expense of organisms that need the chemical for structural purposes. The temperature and acidity are a one-two punch to shellfish that they may never recover from.

The world won’t end, yes. But life will likely become miserable for humanity and most other living things.
