I used to live in a city with a big university library I went to often. Sometimes I left notes or hints in books I liked. Maybe one could leave a list of local instances or a pamphlet about how one can and should host their own in some admin or linux books.

Whoops, thank you. Maybe Lemmy should return an error when trying to put an absolute link?

I think that as I said in some other coment I want to spread not only the fediverse, but also FOSS and privacy. Ideas about how to do it and what to say or smth like that?

Someone was talking a little while ago about starting a fedivangelism community. I think that’s a good idea.

I mean OP is literally suggesting leaving out books for people to find them. It’s pretty identical to christian tactics.

Here’s my idea: https://polarhive.ml/blog/fedi-first/ #FediFirst is a cool hashtag you can adopt, especially if you have accounts on other centralized platfroms.

I see many people having cross posting bots stuff. Usually they treat centralized platforms as the priority and forget about their old fediverse accounts. To solve this quite simply reverse the platforms. Treat fediverse as your primary platform.

The only reason to be on YouTube or some proprietary service is to get everyone to join the fediverse and discover alt-platforms through your account. It siphons the user previously trapped in proprietary, shadow banning, legacy platform into the fediverse. Make sure to leave links in your bio or change your channel-photo/banner which suggests the same.

So for example that means posting your PeerTube videos to YouTube a week or 2 later or unfollowing everyone, archiving your account. Deleting old posts and such.

I try to do this everywhere, like opting for Matrix over Discord, Codeberg over Github, etc and not drive traffic to centralized platforms. Oh, and also redirect.invidious.io and nitter.net are cool!

Any ideas, suggestions? or do you know where else I should cross post this?
