The Second Reich was really puke. Just another antisocialist piss bucket whose history has been, conveniently, largely forgotten by modern anticommies.

In 1918 Germany annexed huge tracts of territory from the Russian Empire, taking direct control of almost all its coal mines, three-quarters of its iron ore, half its industry, and a third of its rail system. An increasingly anti-Slavic ideology added a racial dimension to this imperial expansion. Generals Paul von Hindenburg and Erich Ludendorff wanted not only to control the resources of Eastern Europe, but also to subdue the region’s Slavic nationalities, settle Germans there, and create a “frontier wall of ‘physically and mentally healthy human beings.”’ First in Poland then later further east, the German army commandeered forced labor, deported thousands of Slavic workers, and monitored the local population through registration and identity cards.

Not to mention that WW1 was literally just squabbling over spheres of influence for export of finance capital and resource exploitation, lmao. The Germans have nothing to proud of even in that period.

I always hate this argument. Especially from people that never read any theory. It’s such a nonsensical one.

Bonus points if they go on to say: ‘but a doctor and a garbage man shouldn’t make the same money’ which is so fucking elitist that I’d want to slap them on the spot.

Well,I’m confused, I thought that in the Critique of the Gotha Programme, Marx said that they shouldn’t receive the same wage because if one had kids/more responsibilities to take care of, then the one with kids/higher living cost/more responsibilities gets the better wage because he needs a higher wage. So no, the wages are not the same. And that ignores the training that the doctor goes into for years for med school.

Yes that’s the point, wages are not the same really. Saying communism is when wages are the same just doesn’t make sense. That’s not what the ideology is about. And yet it’s the one thing people think of when they hear the word communism.

Saying a doctor shouldn’t make the same amount of money as a garbage man also doesn’t add anything meaningful to the discussion either. It just shows that you see garbage people as lesser somehow, despite it being a completely different and yet still important job. I personally couldn’t give a shit if I made the same as a ‘low skilled’ person, as long as I can live a comfortable life myself without having to worry about starvation, health problems, becoming homeless etc.

That’s a great point actually, as long as you’re safe and healthy and people around you are too, then there’s not really a genuine issue with the guy next door getting 50 bucks extra to buy baby food

German Empire worship is just a neonazi dogwhistle for nazis that are too scared to put up the proper iconography (often because the local law forbids it). Even the german lawmakers know that and are often cracking up on those types.

the (former) Kaiser actually went on to support the Nazi regime. first he claimed he disliked it because of some perception of barbaric, atheistic violence, but later his only complaint was that Hitler didn’t reinstate him as king lol

Yeah it’s funny how all those junker types became nazis or supported nazis. It’s almost like definitive proof that the III Reich was continuation of the liberal-aristocratic system Marx, Engels and Lenin had so much to write about.

Liberal as in “procapitalist”. German Empire was capitalist system, albeit with a strong influence of aristocracy, and the very same aristocrats still supported nazis - and the 3rd Reich was still a capitalist country, in fact very capitalist, and so also within the definition of a liberal.

You must note we are using here the marxist definition of fascism - that fascism is the attempt of the bourgeoisie to held power against the growing proletarian organization, threat of revolution and their own waning power. You can compare how Stalin called socialdemocrats the moderate wing of fascism and how liberal parties across the west are now becoming increasingly more fascistic.

In most systems, I’d wager. You’d get very ill get quickly without garbage workers removing waste. Doctors would be overwhelmed or have died as children if waste was left around and / or significantly harder to dispose of.

…Where is this kid’s parents? Oh yeah… Overworked and underpaid.

This is why people need better work and life balance. You leave your kids unattended; they get groomed by 4klan and the feds and turn into a shitty little nazi nugget or any extremely unlikable edgelord doofus.

This kind doesnt need to be running around being a pithy history pervert try hard. He needs to be outside playing sports and learning social skills.

Isn’t there a school of thought among historians that the period from the first world war until about the end of WWII can be seen through the same lens, rather then breaking them up unto distinct eras?

I’d be interested to hear more about this. I mean it makes sense from an historical materialist perspective, which might see Nazi Germany as a development out of the contradictions of the earlier period. So something of a continuation rather than a sequence of ideologically ‘isolated’ Germanies.

I heard about it not just in the context of Germany, but for all of Europe basically. Historians viewing that period in Europe as a continuum rather than breaking it into distinct periods e.g. WWI, interwar years/depression, rise of fascism, WWII.
