“I also trust a company like Google” is a phrase I havn’t heard much recently.

If you’re trusting google then you’re trusting Alphabet and their business partners, and the US government.

This whole video seems like an ad for Google’s products and services.

I trust that Google is financially motivated to know us better than any other company, and therefore very reluctant to willingly share that data

But the downsides are that Google is thus financially motivated to collect this data in the first place, and is legally required to share this data with the USA government

Chrome and Android could easily be the most secure options for consumers (because Google has talented engineers), but they intentionally scupper that effort in favour of their advertising business

Ive disliked this guy since they did that graphene hit piece video and now he is telling people stock ROMs are okay because fdroid updates are slow(???) Yikes.

Lmao they also closed their matrix rooms in favor of discord

    https://discuss.techlore.tech/t/matrix-community-closure/200/10

How can anyone think that’s a good idea, especially in a “privacy” community?

To be fair, this is a case by case issue related to threat modeling. He doesn’t encourage the decision to use stock AOSP for normal individuals who seek privacy, but the question of security becomes overwhelming when you become a very known person so I understand why he reverted back to stock android.

But GAPP? Really? I can’t back him up on that considering the fact that he fears spyware government attacks. How will Google help you here when they are the ones selling your data to the government?

Can’t watch the video while at work. Can someone briefly tell me why he decided to do so?
