    A bunch of white guys with cursory (at best) understanding of Chinese start talking about how these characters should be numeric. A guy who knows his shit explains why this isn’t necessarily (nor even really at all) the case.

    Then, in a stunning reversal of the usual pattern in such fora, people listen to the actual, bona fide expert.

    Colour me genuinely shocked!
