Our default light theme, unity, the Ubuntu one, doesn’t look that great IMO. I mainly built the site using darkly, but now a lot of users are going to see the default light theme, it makes sense to have a better one.

Let’s have a contest and see who can do a good looking light theme.

Any bootstrap v4 compatible theme should work, you can build one on https://bootstrap.build/

I’ll add any that looks good, and we’ll credit the creators on our github.

Happy theming!

Whatever you do, please keep it simple stupid. There are always too many buttons everywhere

I am using the solar-theme, because I find the light-theme too light and the dark theme too dark. Besides that, both look polished to me, considering, everything is new arround here.

I would prefer a theme that is easy on the eyes in every lighting situation, rather than a dynamic theme that switches based on local time. Interestingly, when you look at Android, most apps seem to do a pretty good job switching themes. I am not sure, whether it is a good idea on the desktop.

Can we please get solar-light theme :(

I really like solar theme but it’s not great for outdoor usage, solar light is perfect for that!

This is only for unregistered users, once you register, you can set a theme. Not for time based or anything

This is an experimental setup. This style is not installed there. I temporarily replaced css i386 with this one (in Docker). Just switch to i386. ) https://misogi.ru

Users love this. Perhaps we are accustomed to an open, simple, white template. A lot of light, a lot of open space.

Have you looked into Bootswatch? Or does that not work? Sorry, I’d like to help, but I have little knowledge regarding this :grinning face with sweat:

A lot of these themes are from bootswatch :) They’re not really a theme builder, just a collection of open source BS themes.

Browsers, and sites, are starting to implement a prefers color mode, where you can set light or dark mode in your browser settings. We implemented this a little bit ago.

I also hate light themes, but a lot of ppl wanted some.

Edit: also this is for unregistered users only, registered ones still can set their theme.

Would a gruvbox-light themed one be desirable? I personally like it but I don’t think it has mass appeal.

I never liked that theme but now after clicking your link I found out they have a “hard contrast” version as shown here(first one) which actually looks really nice!

My laptop has a TN screen and for the light theme any contrast lower than “hard” is illegible so I know what you mean

Looks pretty nice, but it needs to be a bootstrap v4 theme.
