My new blog is not open-source. I’ve gotten a lot of questions about this, and thought it would be good to address this, and share some of my reasoning 🙂

    Wow 80$ per month to host a blog is incredibly expensive. I pay 23€ per month for peertube.social (including backups and domain), and this website is 4€ per month in total afaik.

    This price might seem very high to you (it does to me too!). There are two factors for these prices:

    • My site sees a lot of visitors, and my posts are media-heavy; last month I used 500gb of bandwidth, and made almost 200,000 lambda calls.

      My best guess would be he’s using their CloudFront CDN stuff, which is pretty expensive. But that and 200k lambda calls still don’t really add up to 80$. 🤔
