I’d like to discuss the following. Imagine there is an instance that has groups and group discussions. Actually, Friendica has forums already. From what I know, these groups can be actually represented the same way in ActivityPub when federated, both on the Lemmy side and the other sides. And here comes the question: if there is no voting on another side, how it’s gonna fit the Lemmy philosophy? How it’s gonna be displayed on the Lemmy side?
Well, the second question is maybe simpler - how to display - maybe just remove voting buttons and show posts in the chronological order.
The first one is really interesting - the philosophy. Without voting, it’s not Redditesque anymore. What do you guys think?
For the initial version we are just working towards federation between Lemmy instances. If it works with any other software, that will be pure coincidence. We will start worrying about federation with other software once Lemmy federation is working, which will take a lot of work.
