When you show this to a lib, their response is that “it’s a Russian resolution” or other “muh Russian propaganda” drivel, so the thought process behind voting no or supporting the decision to vote no is basically, “Enable Nazism to own the Russians” 😎

Yeah, they have held the vote multiple times, and in the most recent the US and Ukraine are still the only two voting no. I am in no way saying Canada doesn’t have a nazi glorification problem (see: nazi collaborator war monuments; canada’s role in the rise of ukrainian facism). This is just an outdated map.

Yeah every year, that link is specifically for that vote.

The deputy PM is the granddaughter of a Nazi collaborator and supports Ukrainian nationalists, so yeah, there’s a lot of very serious problems. Just pointing out that in the context of this vote, Canada hasn’t voted “no” since Harper’s conservative government. Trudeau has abstained (which is a deeply disturbing stance on its own), so the map is outdated.

This article seems fishy to me, says it is too restrictive but it is a non-binding thing and when pressed America says it is about free speech? Yeeeeaaah nooooo.

And in the end the article says that the problem doesn’t lie with the proposal itself, but that Russia is the one who started it? As s PR stunt? Even though the majority of the world agrees on this? Wtf who wrote this crap?

I mean they are direct quotes, you can look up other articles to check.

ah no I was not doubting any sources, just this article is heavily biased towards the U.S. and is written like it belongs in the yellow papers

“Muh free speech” isn’t a good excuse to say Nazism shouldn’t be combatted, in fact, no excuse is. No one should give two shits whether fascists have “freedom of speech”. You give them an inch, they take a mile.
