But yeah, Google killed off third-party YouTube apps on Android shortly before they released YouTube Premium. And with the official app deliberately lacking features, a competitor doesn’t have to be extraordinarily good to be appreciated.
This is one of those rare cases where I’d say the hype is justified. When the official client is absolute dogshit, then of course better alternatives would be welcomed with open arms.
NewPipe isn’t the only option as others have mentioned, and it isn’t a bad app, quite the opposite, specially if you use the platform just to watch videos and not to comment :)
