I’m monolingual, but I’d like to learn Portugese.
I speak Russian and English, and been slowly learning Mandarin for the past year.
I speak Dutch of course. Also French and German.
How did you learn so many languages?
I’ve always had a thing for languages. I can also understand and read Spanish, Danish, Swedish, Norwegian and Italian.
Part of it is just me easily learning new languages. Part of it is travel.
But also, Dutch school system has a big focus on German and some focus on French as they are big trading partners and many business opportunities come frome these countries. So besides mandatory English for six years you also get mandatory French and German for two and an optional extra four years if you want to. I chose to learn German and drop French but ever since I moved to Belgium two years ago I picked up French again. I now am the go to guy for German speaking people at my place of work and half the country speaks French so I use it a lot as well.
Basato
Impressive!
Native Hawaiian, Russian, and Mandarin
Mandarin because if I ever get a real chance I’d do whatever I could to try and move to China and get out of the cesspit that is the West.
Pretty much exactly what I was going to say.
This is why I need to learn Mandarin too…and brush up on my Spanish.
Only German, being my first language and all that.
I know:
Serbian
Montenegrian
Bosnian
Croatian
Macedonian
English
Russian
Understand Slovenian but can’t speak it
And I’m learning German.
That’s a lot! I would assume a lot of vocabulary to overlap between the Slavic languages, although I don’t know how similar they are.
Linguistic superstar
I read/speak English and Portuguese fluently, have been studying German for 1 month now
To prepare for Russian, and later Mandarin
Klingt nach einer interessanten Kombination mit Englisch und Portugiesisch lol
The more the merrier! To know a language is to know a whole universe. If you know French, you may have more access to literature and information on several African countries, and you’ll have even deeper information if you know Swahili
Wenn du Hilfe brauchst, melde dich ruhig :)

Indonesian, which is actually close to my native language Tagalog. Which means I’m already bilingual lol.
I’m learning Spanish, because it’s spoken by a shitload of countries, and also in case I ever get the opportunity to move to Cuba or something
I’d like to learn Chinese but my brain isn’t very goodI’ve seen Chinese keyboards before and that scared me away
From what I know, pinyin is pretty standard for input nowadays so you don’t need a special keyboard. With pinyin you also don’t have to remember how to draw the characters. However, even just learning to recognize the characters takes some time. I find it’s a lot more challenging than other languages I’ve tried learning.
I speak Polish, German and English. Languages that I may want to learn in the future include Russian, Mandarin, Swedish and Spanish. I will probably learn Spanish for school, I have the choice between Latin, French (🤮) and Spanish. Wish I could learn Russian instead but I would have to go to another, more expensive school.
My first language is English and I am also learning Spanish, German, and Russian.
I read/speak English/Spanish fluently, one of my goals this year is to start with either Chinese or Arabic.
