Obviously Communism being a global/international ideology, we live in different conditions with different taboos and social mores. In the place where you currently live, do you feel comfortable enough to wear a HammSick on your clothes? Not like a Che shirt or a red star or anything that can be passed off as anything else, but a full on Hammer and Sickle cannot be confused with anything else. Beyond that, do you particularly enjoy political-based clothing at all or do y’all just vibe in whatever clothes you like?
Only tangentially related but this morning I was watching the first season of Project Runway (2004) and noticed one of the designers wore this tshirt a lot:
The guy beside him loves soccer moms, which I agree with as well.
Eh. I’m perfectly fine with openly identifying as a communist but like other users said I don’t want others to think I’m obnoxious. Not that I think it’s obnoxious to have one on, I just wouldn’t want others to think that lol

I wouldn’t currently, but I live in the USA and there are a lot of risks associated with being openly communist. Hopefully that changes sometime.
I work from home, so I’ve really leaned into just wearing sweatpants (I have some decent slim fit ones) and a t-shirt (or hoodie/sweatshirt) most of the time. I’ll put on jeans if I’m dressing up.
I don’t like clothing with branding usually (if it was a worker owned co-op I’d rock it though). I just have some band t-shirts I like.
As I’ve gotten older, I care way less what others think about how I dress. Most people don’t notice anyways.
I had hammer and sickle earrings that were dope as hell. Think they got commented on once or twice but when asked I said some shit like “it represents the unity between farmers and workers”, which, not a lie, but… lol.
I took them out before I went to Peru so I didn’t get accused of being a Shining Path stan or something. Just never put them back in when I got back I guess.
I also have a punk jacket I sewed a hamsick onto, and I wore it around town when I was in college a lot. Impolite looks, but never really got comments. That jacket has a shit ton of patches on it, though, including the fucking three arrows and an anarchy symbol 🤮. I was a cringearcho-communist back then for sure.
Now, I echo the subtlety point. If the hamsick were incorporated in a natural way that melds well with the rest of the fit, I’d wear it, but probably not a giant hamsick on a red shirt. It seems a bit obnoxious and attention-seeking maybe, but props to you if you can pull it off.

Behold! The Sixth Head of Marxism! Long live Marxism-Leninism-Meowism! Long live the universal protracted people’s lasagna!
While I love the aesthetic, I’d rather not make myself an obvious target. Alternatively I think a Castro-style olive green jacket is the perfect middle ground :)
just seems a little tacky and cringe to staple your political beliefs like that in your clothing. I wear clothing to feel comfortable and look cool, not to scream my political beliefs at people - I can do that with my mouth
I would probably feel comfortable walking on the street in that, but a few people (mostly family and friends) might become worried that I get hurt. I have seen one colleague upload a H&S photograph to her Instagram, but most people I know seem to associate politics with getting beaten up. I wouldn’t mind wearing something like that though.
Well if it’s stylish enough and not obnoxious, like if I wore a red shirt with hamsick on it it’ll be like you seeing a “I am atheist because I’m smart” shirt, like people would expect me to be obnoxious, but no one would care not even side comments by salafis.
It’s actually illegal in some places https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bans_on_communist_symbols 🤡
Very low. My city has some nazi cells. People can be harassed just by wearing red (not even hate torwards communists but the Workers Party that is LibSoc). But something more disguised could work, maybe.
That’s a situation where I wouldn’t wear ANY political clothing
I have a red shirt with a wheat reath that would look vaguely socialist if it didn’t also have the Animaniacs on it. I bought some shirts of that Chinese rabbit cartoon people here have pfps of but I haven’t worn them out yet.
That animaniacs shirt sounds pretty hard tbh
It’s pretty nice
I would wear a Year Hare Affair tee shirt.
I would probably be shot if I did that where I live, but I think I’d prefer something more subtle anyways, a huge hammer and sickle seems a bit tacky.
I probably wouldn’t just cause there are a pretty high number of ukronazis in my area unfortunately. I’ve been called out by a local politician (known ukrainian nationalist) on instagram just for sharing an article about the Indian farmer protests a while back that featured a hammer and sickle.
Yea I’m spooked bc I went to the gun range w my friend and some dude had a MOTHERFUCKING AZOV SHIRT!
It’s a bad idea, something i think we have to learn from fascists is to keep our “power level” hidden.
