I feel I’ve gotten to know lots of people on here through comments more as the user base is smaller and that’s really nice 😊

Like I recognise most users and I know how they role and it feels a lot more personal on here and I really like that 🫂

Some other benefits include:

  • we are like second gen trailblazers. It’s up to us to help define this place and how we move forward.
  • we can bring back all the old shitposting and tomfoolery while also having a higher level of discussion on here as we set the tone.
  • it’s our little space away from the reddit shitlibs and bs corporate rules.
  • it will only continue to grow and eventually we will have our GZD back while improving it I feel.

I miss the old chaotic vibe and auto mod and flairs and pronouns and while it’s sad we can use that energy to make this place the best it can be with all the xi-posting, weihua murders, nonsensical crap while educating and uplifting new comrades ✊️

In essence we can make this place GZD+GenZhou and more and I’m optimistic for what this place can be in a years time 🎉

In the meantime I’ll try to post more stupid memes (in the appropriate subs 🤓) and I just wanted to say I love my tankie siblings ❤️

Soon I’ll be the niche internet micro celebrity I always dreamed 🥹

  • Dont forget MoreTankieChapo, banning of it was the reason for GenZedong. And MTC was created because ordinary chapo was overrun by westernleft of all kinds. We are now in like 5th era of internet tankeism XD

Absolutely! The GZD sub was wonderful and got me started on Marxism-Leninism, but I have to say this place has been the best social media site I have ever come across. Genuine, intelligent, polite people. I too love the personal feel.

I love you all too, keep up the great work

No time like the present to start your vtuber career and go down in the flames of e-drama while pocketing cash.

It’s what President Xi pushes every time he needs Chen to destroy an American politician on twitter.

I hope that the continued use of lemmygrad helps push away some of that chaos, actually! It feels more structured here than reddit ever was, which helps that there’s an entire instance for communists.

I like the structure, I miss that chaos as in the memes and in jokes and ironic nonsense but I’m hoping that’s where lemmygrad can do a good job of containing that chaos in appropriate subs while leaving the educational and more serious stuff to be in their own place keeping it nicely structured with areas for the silliness.

Hard out. Though it would be nice if admins could maybe help with some features to get us through the grief 👉👈

  • It’d be nice if we could have slightly longer display names so anyone could fit pronouns in at the end. Would probably be easier to implement than separate Hexbear-esque pronoun indicators

Speaking of Hexbear, I’ve tried using it, but the site is really slow compared to Lemmygrad. Either some JavaScript shenanigans or just the amount of traffic, I guess

I miss it too… I discovered r/GenZedong thanks to a friend who lives in China and since then, every day I would keep an eye on the subreddit to find out the news and have a few laughs.

However, Lemmygrad is an excellent opportunity to promote more intelligent discussion with our comrades, to protect ourselves against the abuses of monopolistic companies like Reddit, and to let many of you know more about the Fediverse. In fact, I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but Lemmy, unlike Reddit, has no ads or trackers (it make me feel more free and independent btw).

And not only that. Lemmygrad is free and open source software. Anyone with technical knowledge could help Dessalines and Nutomic to improve the platform and we could adapt it to our needs (including pronouns, flairs, bots…).

And finally, I would like to add one thing. I think very good work is being done here in Lemmygrad with the Comradeship community. It’s something that wasn’t on r/GenZedong before and it helps us to get to know each other better, in a more personal way. So, thank you all for everything! <3

🫂 Comradeship is the best addition by far. We need to look after each other and I like to think that helps somewhat.

I’m only worried that this community might not be able to grow. On Reddit, GenZedong was excellent at radicalizing those that would eventually come to find our positions logically correct. However, how will lemmygrad grow? Will this community be relegated to a place of learning and relaxation, as opposed to radicalization? It’s good to be independent from mainstream western social media, but hopefully we will find new ways to still reach people. Organizing in real life is more important and impactful, yet the internet allows those who can’t for various reasons to participate.

But gzd was one sub. We have an entire platform here and can federate with others. Reddit was such a good vector because of the sheer number of users. Lemmy and the associated instances will have to grow like reddit did.

  • yeah i agree, it’s kind of nice to see familiar faces a lot of the time. it’s nice that it’s our own little discussion space with which we can do whatever we want to. i do hope that, if GZD is ever fully banned, that we get a final wave of users, because learning a marginally new format and site has been totally worth it

also, thanks for reminding me that that keycap exists, it is some pretty sick shit
