I feel I’ve gotten to know lots of people on here through comments more as the user base is smaller and that’s really nice 😊
Like I recognise most users and I know how they role and it feels a lot more personal on here and I really like that 🫂
Some other benefits include:
- we are like second gen trailblazers. It’s up to us to help define this place and how we move forward.
- we can bring back all the old shitposting and tomfoolery while also having a higher level of discussion on here as we set the tone.
- it’s our little space away from the reddit shitlibs and bs corporate rules.
- it will only continue to grow and eventually we will have our GZD back while improving it I feel.
I miss the old chaotic vibe and auto mod and flairs and pronouns and while it’s sad we can use that energy to make this place the best it can be with all the xi-posting, weihua murders, nonsensical crap while educating and uplifting new comrades ✊️
In essence we can make this place GZD+GenZhou and more and I’m optimistic for what this place can be in a years time 🎉
In the meantime I’ll try to post more stupid memes (in the appropriate subs 🤓) and I just wanted to say I love my tankie siblings ❤️
Soon I’ll be the niche internet micro celebrity I always dreamed 🥹
It’d be nice if we could have slightly longer display names so anyone could fit pronouns in at the end. Would probably be easier to implement than separate Hexbear-esque pronoun indicators
Speaking of Hexbear, I’ve tried using it, but the site is really slow compared to Lemmygrad. Either some JavaScript shenanigans or just the amount of traffic, I guess
Yeah I tried it and was like who’s this user “you’llneverbeawoman”…
back to lemmygrad I go!
Random forum user: You’llNeverBeAWoman
Transmasc: oh my god, thank you so much, I feel super validated right now
Improvise, adapt, overcome 💪
Yes… Ha ha ha… YES
Probably the same person who made an account on lemmy.ml and was eventually banned
Hexbear seems like the kind of place where those people would be reported and banned pretty quickly, though
I see they found an appropriate garbage bin to make their account in.
Yeah I’ve heard good things, I just didn’t find the mobile UI or customisation options as accessible (or present) as here and felt scared and alone without knowing anyone.
It’s definitely overwhelming compared to Lemmygrad. I never really used R*ddit so I’m not used to a torrent of comments everywhere
I did but it felt more manageable since I’d spent years lurking and spot using reddit. Hexbear was an overload.
Yeah, I was reading /r/genzedong for half a year before joining the 'Grad
Oh you probably saw my old account being a baby communist without realising. It was very pink.
Possibly, I don’t remember many of the names. /u/based_grandma69 stuck in my mind for some reason, I wonder why, it’s such a nondescript name
