This is a bit confusing and scary. Most of the confusing part is that I at first didn’t realize that the website isn’t the URL the party uses (almost didn’t notice when I tried searching the .org vs .net). Are the folks being attacked and the ones that made the site part of a new org? And are the attacks being done due to these folks that left trying to bring attention to the rapists? I am being truly honest in needing a little bit of context/history on what is going on. Feel free to dunk on my most likely stupid questions, I just want to better know what the hell is going on given how messed up it all is. Like is there a chance that a right-wing or fed group are involved in any of it (not meaning that the sexual stuff didn’t happen, just that it would be a good time to attack if that were to be the case)?

Based on the pages that come up, it seems that the .net site is the main one. Which I find interesting given that .org would make more sense. Maybe they just really liked the idea of using it or maybe the .org was sniped at some point (like maybe they failed in paying the fee for the domain).

If you google “party of communists usa” this org page shows up first so that are losing the SEO war too.

CPUSA is what you make of it. It’s a vehicle for the working class and will get better if more people participate in it. It went through tough times, but I believe that it’s honestly gotten better since the end of 2019.

I’m sorry, legitimate question: what’s with the orgy comment? It seems like a smear against morality as opposed to an actual complaint about sexual conduct. Am I just missing a crucial piece of information on the topic?

As long as its CONSENSUAL and there’s no Coercion, that’s one thing. I don’t know if it was or was not but I don’t think it would be worth mentioning otherwise

That’s why I’m asking though, because the way it was phrased was kinda tacked on like an afterthought to the rest of these. It’s a syntactical structure that gives a lot of “guilty by association” vibes. If I were stating that orgies were occurring with not-okay aspects, I’d just say “orgies some participants felt forced into” or something along those vibes.

The clarification would help me to understand the situation better and provide a lot of context to all if something bad was occurring specifically there. But if it’s a values judgement, then that kind of also needs addressed because I have a very different understanding of sexual mores. I’d like to know if I should be reconsidering that position or if we need to have a deeper discussion about why that comment is being made lol. I don’t feel it helps to pass those types of judgements along in critiques when we could focus on more concrete wrongdoing or elaboration on practices.

Yea I’ll admit I haven’t looked into what the situation was, but that’s a very good point, if it’s literally just judging their sexual preferences that’s fucked up

That occurring during meetings is definitely improper, but I’m also kind of curious how that worked given that I can’t imagine everyone stayed for that unless it was an after-the-meeging occurrence, which is a little different. I’d figure they’d have to do more than run a sex club to attract serious members, no?

The latter, while a point of legitimate concern, is also a lot of the time handwringing in my experience if people can be civil, and they usually can be. That is of course unless it involves leadership, which is a clear conflict of interest and almost never acceptable. I just don’t know if I hold it to the same standard of criticism as sexual misconduct. It’s something to be aware of if it’s widespread, and it’s sounding like it might have been, but I’m not really going to smear someone with it either.

I don’t mean to split hairs on those more serious accusations, it’s just…I don’t feel right using these others on any basis and it would concern me to see it become more common.

It’s tough to have hope for a good communist party in the USA. Firstly it’s illegal for communists to hold public office in the USA(I’m pretty sure) second, the US Left is still vaguely ok with Imperialism. (All about optics) third would be this type of shit🤮, the in-fighting and working with the state against anyone that represents anything left oriented. That’s why I kinda like PSL if I had to choose any.
