Nope. China’s not starting a war over a second tier politician meeting with the Taiwan government. China saber rattles over these sorts of things all the time and then quietly forgets about it later. If China genuinely did not want her to visit, they should have addressed it in private. Being so public makes it hard for Pelosi to change her itinerary lest it looks like the US caves to China’s threats. China does not control US foreign policy, period.

You know what, Pelosi gave China a reason to do everything around and beyond Taiwan. Next thing we know could be Chinese warships hanging around Okinawa US-Japanese military base, talk about cutting sausages.

“Well, I think that the military thinks it’s not a good idea right now,” Biden said about the prospective trip on July 20. “But I don’t know what the status of it is.”

Even if he didn’t mean it, it comes off like he has no idea what the military thinks and he’s just guessing. The two thinks are really tripping me up, too. Aren’t presidents supposed to be more… eloquent?

Nancy Pelosi would rather start a world war than to lose the elections in fall.

Russia invading Ukraine is totally chill and cool, but god forbid a civilian leader meets with the Taiwanese people, that would be an act of war!

There is a difference when it comes to the American Empire, you should know this by now.
