When you converse with westoids you know some of them aren’t dumb as bricks and actually question some things. But when it comes to questioning the mainstream narrative it is like they turn their brains off.

I was watching kurzgesagt and The hated one and they have a few political vids that make you die of cringe. These two very informative channels are fucking braindead when it comes to mainstream narratives. Probably the same case with every other good westoid channel.

Are westerners inherently dumb or something?

To me it is just that they don’t apply the scientific thinking to politics because they don’t believe it is applicable there.

I had a conversation with my centrist friend and he was like: “I urge you to keep an open mind when looking at China in order to see what is really going on there.” (He knows I am pro CPC)

My answer was: “I accept your urge, but I urge you not to fall into nonfalsifiable orthodoxy and to look at history and the present in a materialist manner.”

His response? “I can’t, because that would mean that I would have to say that for example Stalin was OK. And if you look at the world in that manner then the correct answer is that collectivism is better than individualism. All that goes against my moral values.”

Spot on. This is the essence of it. Media, education, politics and broader society presents them with the normative “moral” conclusions, they then have to reason backwards following the dogma of anti-communism for fear of social flack, material interest, etc.

This is extremely apparent in the last couple of days with mainstream Ukraine stans having to wrestle with the reality of the impending Ukrainian defeat. This reality is smacking them in the face so hard they can’t ignore it any longer, but they also can’t admit it, because the conclusion has long been established - Ukraine will win. Going against this dogma has increasingly severe social consequences, so they can’t. Same applies to them analyzing China, the USSR and the like.

On kurzgesagt: Just realize they’re part of the funk network, which is essentially the online part of German state television (ZDF and ARD). Naturally you’re only going to find the most milquetoast, acceptable takes on a platform like that.

I didn’t realize that Kurzgesagt was part of German public broadcasting. Of course that means they are perfectly independent, objective, and apolitical. /s

You’re gonna laugh and/or think I’m insane, but that’s genuinely what a very very large part of the German population (the audience of kurzgesagt eg) believes.

I live in Germany so see that type of anti-communist bs every day as well. What really makes me laugh about German media is all the people who claim that the separate funding of the public broadcasters makes them unquestionably independent from any sort of political influence or bias.

Callous class interest. If I was a wealthy kid grown in the suburbs I might think differently, especially if my boss, coworkers, friends, family, and in-laws were of the same ideology. We’re also subject to the stains of the cold war purges where there wasn’t room for any ideological deviation without risking your middle class, intelligentsia, bourgeois lifestyle and community. We have lived in a highly repressive society for over a century. The only reason it’s more apparent now is because that society is falling a part. The US has always killed people who spoke against their hegomonic order, and if you weren’t worth killing they’d destroy you.

That’s for the middle classes these days. The proletariat are more frank and reasonable. I’ve always been openly socialist. I can easily relate to my peers on a class level. The people you’re talking about can’t.

Something else to add to this: death turns people’s brains off. It’s why pro-life shilling is so easy to get away with.

I think its just that their brains are wired to not question certain things. This was my experience growing up in the west and being a liberal leftist. While i was against capitalism and for communism, i just wasnt taught to question mainstream narratives on socialist states. I just thought they were undeniable facts and anyone who said otherwise was a flat earther type conspiracy theorist. It just felt obvious to me, like the sky is blue, its just obvious, questioning it is crazy. But then i stumbled upon “Loyal citizens of Pyongyang in Seoul”, and it changed me. The lies about the DPRK suddenly unraveled before my eyes. So i thought “if the claims about DPRK are false, what about the ones about USSR, Stalin, China, Putin, Assad, etc”. I researched and read a lot during 5-6 months, and arrived to where i am, convinced marxist leninist. All it takes is for the unfalsifiable bubble to burst and the gears turn on, bringing you outside of the western narrative.

Educated first worlders are educated in liberal institutions that require you to adhere to the religion of liberalism to succeed. And because liberals are on the correct side of social justice from an emotional standpoint, educated people are more willing to buy into liberalism 100% because actual materialist thinking

    1. Not only is harder when you’ve spent you’re entire life incubating and coming of age in the imperial core surrounded by capitalist propaganda and

    2. Requires first-world liberals to admit that they personally benefit from continued genocide and slavery, are functionally powerless to change anything electorally, and the whole accepted history they’ve been taught through liberal institutions is built on a mountain of lies and half-truths. Which is extremely difficult for anyone to accept. Educated people are no different.

Progressive liberalism in a way is just tribalism with more steps.

I think it’s because it never stops. From childhood through adulthood everyone around you has been tainted by it and almost all media is saturated with it.

have you seen the new matrix movie where when Trinity says “no I choose neo!” her matrix bf immediately goes into “pre-programmed bot” mode and starts physically attacking her, complete with computer code scrolling behind his eyeballs. This is exactly what happens when you say something too true to an indoctrinated westoid (nice term btw, wasn’t familiar with it before)
