Reminder that deforestation and natural habitat destruction is responsible for the extinction crisis, and the new growth forests that can crop up in place of unused pastures will be a significant carbon sink.

      Guess what’s already being used for the vast majority of farmland now. I don’t see how it would get worse when we would actually need to cultivate less plants, not even counting pasture land which can grow on its own, just farmland human food plus farmed animal feed would would be more than human food if everyone ate plants.

      Not to mention, if we reduce our required farmland by 75%, we could actually start doing large scale permaculture, which would allow us to grow food while reforesting even the places we grow them in, and relying on natural nutrient cycling as opposed to fertilizer.
