I think it would be relatively easy to write a stackoverflow type frontend for Lemmy. That could be done in any language, and would work similarly to the existing lemmy-ui. Then you would get federation for free, and the Lemmy backend would only need some minor changes.
There are many possibilities in writing new frontends for Lemmy. One could also create a traditional forum with chronological threads and no voting (like phpbb).

Am I correctly looking at it a bit like wordpress, but you got to write your own theme and that’s all? (I’m not very advanced in these things)
