Remove personal data from demonstration photos

Hey folx! I attended a demonstration and I shoot a few photos.
I wish to remove as many personal data (mainly faces) as possible. Which program do you suggest? [GNU/Linux OS]

I ended up with a native GIMP solution: green paprika.

black lives matter in Germany where anybody's head is replaced with a green paprika
