Hi again.

One of the most significant aspects of an anime is its soundtrack. The opening theme, ending, and all the OSTs in between; music holds a large influence in storytelling. These songs can start to grow on us, even if we didn’t like them initially. Moreover, they enable us to reminisce about the show as well as feel emotions in the context of the anime later on down the line. The sentimental value alone is enough to cherish the music that is introduced to us in the anime we enjoy, and I would like to welcome everyone to share that joy.

It would be great if anyone who finds this post can take some time to let us know what you’re favourite, most memorable (or really, anything that comes to mind) anime song is.

I can see that this prompt is different from what you would usually see posted on an anime forum, but I was just feeling curious :)

Thanks!

I don’t watch much anime but here are the ones I have saved in my library:

    Cowboy Bebop

Didn’t even know space jazz was genre but they suit the anime very well because it was slow paced (different from shonen stuff like Naruto) which I really liked. Reminds me a little of MGS music which is of Japanese origin as well.

    JoJo

Not technically anime music but worth a mention nonetheless. They complement the outros and the settings of the corresponding seasons very well.

    Miscellaneous

I found this song on twitter and thought it was cool. :^)

I freaking love JoJo’s use of “Roundabout”. Chef’s kiss.

A LOT of the Naruto OPs and background music, I was a small teen when I started watching so it really takes me back to a time when I still enjoyed things and had actual consistent time to do those things. Also, spent a lot of time in those chatangos that were on stream sites and made a lot of brief friends. Currently the MP100 S1 OP is a good pick-me-up. But honestly some of those longer running animes, play their OP and I’m instantly brought back to better times

I love the ending themes “Take Off” and “Wired Life” from that show <3

for me the answer has to be card captor sakura OPs. they still inspire butterflies in my stomach like I’m 11 years old and the Netflix DVD has just arrived in the mail and the world will be good for 26 minutes.

I figured I should share my own as well. Seems selfish only being on the receiving end of these things!

Plastic Memories OP [Ring of Fortune]

The anime was nice. For me personally, it impacted how I enjoyed the show, especially as it progressed towards the end.

    SAO II ED 3 [Shirushi]

This one really hit the feels. It started being used near the end of the season, I believe, for an additional arc. This ED theme was dedicated to a particular character, and it was so soothing and emotional to listen to, even more so in relation to the story. It also takes me back to some good memories in the past.

    Sakamichi no Apollon (Multiple songs)

Ok, so this is an anime revolving around jazz music. First of all, because many of the OSTs were jazz arrangements, it’s important to note that they are, in fact, arrangements. These arrangements were done by none other than the legend Yoko Kanno, the music composer of Cowboy Bebop. This also means that she wasn’t the original creator, however. Those credits belong to historical jazz legends such as Chet Baker, John Coltrane, Bill Evans, and many more. Of course, there are original songs here too! I didn’t list a particular song here, because I liked almost all of them. Nevertheless, I’ll give an honourable mention to the ED, Altair. The pieces were very pleasant, and were essentially a bulk of the significance, substance, body, and essence of the anime.

    Noragami Aragoto OP [Hey Kids!]

    Cool.

Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad (Multiple songs)

This one’s, dare I say, underrated. Not that many people seem to know about this show. The reason for this could also be credited to the fact that it aired in 2004. Anyways, this anime is about rock music and, similar to Sakamichi no Apollon, references many musicians found in our real world. The soundtracks are great, most of which are performed by the band in the anime called “Beck”. I will also mention a song that stood out to me: Chiemi Kuniyoshi - Genki wo Dashite. This song cheers you up, and it was listened to by the main character during a despairing time. The scene of him sitting in his room, in the dark, blasting this song was a real mood to say the least. However, this song is not rock, it’s a complete outlier from the rest of the tracks :) The OP is very catchy as well. Note: as of now, I’m still watching the show, I’m about halfway through. I’m sure I will find many more great tracks in this show.

I’m sure that there are many many more that I don’t remember at the moment, but here’s what I came up with for the time being. Also I don’t want to write too much as I already have.
