Austrian mustache man in absolute shambles.
I did not expect a downvote here
A lot of users from other instances just hate Lemmygrad outright and will downvote every post they see from it.

Didn’t they win last year? Side note: Austria has the best and most badass coat of arms out of any European country.
Absolutelly based
Wow, I’m surprised they kept the hammer and sickle (even if it never actually had anything to do with communism in this case)
It can be
What do you mean?
I pissed and shidded my pants
Now I’m even more lost
Amogus
Sussy baka
Glad to hear, and yes they’ve won the elections a year ago with Elke Kahr being city major
Great! What’s happening in Austria, is communism getting popular?
Sadly not, Graz is the only city being communist
I hope it will expand in the future :) Here we are not lucky even for a small town or municipality, let alone such big city.
Afaik it’s a euro-communist party, so basically socdems. Probably pro-EU, anti-Russia and pro-NATO. You just don’t get those kinds of vote numbers if you are anti-imperialist in Europe.
I only know the party as making houses cheap and trying to make Graz more eco friendly, unlike the rest of Austrian cities
Austria is not in NATO at least.
The KPÖ is the reason we are neutral, unfortunately they bacame kinda revisionist in the 90s, but still a better choice than all the others. They do good work, especially in Graz.
They did oppose EU-membership iirc when we had the referendum on it
Better than i expected then, that’s good to hear. Our own communist parties here in Germany have nowhere near that level of success, there’s only really the DKP who are actually principled communists and their youth organization is pretty big but their electoral success is virtually nonexistent. The other allegedly communist parties are either cringe Trotskyists or a super sus anti-China party claiming to be anti-revisionist ML and somehow getting inexplicably large levels of funding despite having almost no real membership which i personally suspect is a government op.
I’ve heard mixed info about whether the KPÖ is actually communist/socialist. I remember talking to an Austrian online and they said that they’re basically socdem now, not socialist. But others say they’re still pretty socialist? And still others say they’re on a steady track to being not socialist.
Hard to tell because I don’t speak German and don’t really know where the local Austrian discussion takes place. Anyone know more info about this?
I’ve heard that the Graz local party is more anti-revionist than the party in the rest of the country and that’s why they are still popular in Graz.
Austrian here, could you send me the sources so I can translate?
The conversations were in English. Which, again, makes me suspect I’m not getting the full story from a German speaking country.
Isn’t this result from 2017? I remember in 2021 the Communist Party got almost 29% of the votes and was the most popular party.
Yes. Graz elected Elke Kahr (KPÖ) in 2021 as mayor! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2021_Graz_local_election
It is not much, but it is something to be proud of.
