I want to attribute credit for resources I am using to create a video, but I am looking for a standard way to do it so that it can look good in plain text, rich text and printed text, for now the attribution I want to do, is for video, audio and software separated by their respective sections.
I’d just keep it simple. It’s a YouTube video, not a college essay.
In order of appearance:
- Source Book - [page number]
- Source Webpage - link
- Source Video - link [timestamp]
- Source Article - link
This is exactly what I would suggest, with one addendum: use internet archive links wherever possible. Especially if the links are intended to be clickable.
In the process of acquiring an advanced degree, I learned the worst part of research is finding dead links to pages that were never archived.
By putting it in the internet archive to create a link, it also adds a snapshot.
APA or MLA style citations, like they make you use in US schools. They have styles for citing digital content including videos.
I’d start with one of those two styles, then strip it down from there if you need.
I’d go the same way I reference stuff when I write documentation, I put a References section at the bottom with a numbered list of links, if possible timecoded for multimedia resources.
