I think it’s that if the switching fails, I’ll be left without any job and risk homelessness. And that the general narrative I hear is that “we should be grateful to have a job at all”.

    This is kind of a privileged take, not everyone can urgently change their job and/or lifestyle or grew up with the resources to find themselves in demand by the economy.

        I think what you’re trying to say is that the current job has put OP in the position of being economically unstable, so it’s worth taking a risk to find a job that leaves them with greater economic stability in the long run. Does that sound right?
