Plus at least with Rome you have running sewage and democracy / a republic system somewhere in there

I’d aim more for the Empire. Even during the republic, that was only for upper-crust Latin men, which I am not. There was a robust economy with everything from contracts to product endorsments, though, and I can already read the Latin alphabet and understand some of the vocabulary and a rough outline of the grammar.
