minus-squareabsGeekNZ@lemmy.nzlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up24arrow-down9·10 months agoThe lord of the rings! I love reading…I read a lot. But Tolkien’s style just never worked for me, the movies were great.
minus-squareowenfromcanada@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up25·10 months agoI like Tolkien’s style, but I get it. If you’re not prepared to hear everything described in excruciating detail, maybe just stick with the Hobbit.
minus-squareabsGeekNZ@lemmy.nzlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up4·10 months agoThe Hobbit was pretty good. It’s been a long time since I read it.
minus-squareHanrahan@slrpnk.netlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up1·10 months agoI agree with thus, I tried the books and got pages in before abandoning them, the movies are well done
minus-squaresaigot@lemmy.calinkfedilinkarrow-up1·edit-210 months agoI liked most of the books, but I hate the long songs. Maybe this is a hot take but authors should not put in songs longer than a few lines.
minus-squareabsGeekNZ@lemmy.nzlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up2·10 months agoI always skip a song that is more than a few (max 5) lines long
minus-squaredaltotron@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkarrow-up2·10 months agoYeah no I hate songs in books. Most of the time it’s pretty hard to figure out what the actual tune of the song is supposed to be sung like, unless the author’s pretty good at it, and most aren’t.
