For me, it’d probably be teleportation. The possibilities with teleportation are basically limitless.
- Building’s on fire? Teleport in, grab the people inside, and teleport out. Easy.
- Getting your butt kicked by a supervillain? Teleport to a gun shop, grab some weapons, and teleport back for round 2.
- Alternatively, just grab your opponent, teleport in front of a moving train or something, let go of your opponent, and teleport away.
- Need to defuse a bomb? No need! Just teleport the bomb to the middle of the desert. Never worry about cutting the wrong wire again!
- Want to go to a Taylor Swift concert, but you overslept? You guessed it: just teleport! You don’t even need to buy a ticket!
Admittedly, stopping time is another very useful power, but teleportation is just really hard to beat. What say you?
I think I would prefer stopping time over teleportation. I’ll probably won’t be able to save anyone from a fire (depending on how fire would work in stopped time), or just drop a bomb into the desert, but I feel like if I kept my current life, i.e. not become a well known superhero, these points wouldn’t be particularly useful.
The ability to stop time would imho be more useful to me. I could take a multi-hour break just in the middle of work and nobody would know. I could have my five more minutes in the morning without feeling guilty or just have a long vacation without using my vacation days.
Yeah, time stopping is a good choice, too. If we’re going to use it for long periods (like for long vacations, for example), that does raise the question: do you still age while time is stopped, or does your ability pause aging, too?
That’s a good question. I mean obviously no one else will be aging, but since you’re moving time most likely didn’t stop for you. The problem is if you age while time is stopped you’d need to refrain from using it too often, otherwise others might get suspicious because you’re aging too fast from their perspective. However If you’d only use this power for an extra 2 week vacation per year, you’d age an extra year per 25 years of lifetime and I don’t think that is too obvious.
I want to make measurements by observation. By looking at a car I know its velocity. By carrying a bag I know exactly how heavy it is. By hearing a sound I know all the frequencies within.
It isn’t super useful for anyone, but I think it would be so cool if numbers just comes up next to an object.
Teleportation is up there, but I think shapeshifting beats it out for me by a little.
Not even considering how to use it to help other people, selfishly. I just want my clothes to always fit perfectly, among other things.
Shapeshifting’s a good one. Lot of possibilities with that.
Heck, bundle in the ability to shapeshift other people for them and I’ll run around zapping dysphoria inducing bodies.
You nailed my top two. Teleportation would make travel super easy and would be the only thing that could get me back to an office for work - got to keep my day job so people don’t get suspicious of my powers right? Stopping time is also cool (for extra sleep I swear!) but with the obvious caveat that it’s not “all molecules freeze and you can’t breathe and you die” style time stoppage but the more sci-fi “you can still move around and do stuff, time just doesn’t pass” kind.
Stopping time for sure. If not for the very simple reason of being able to sleep as long as I want/need. Imagine essentially not having to go to bed at night (you do but you’ve stopped time during your nap)
Quick save and quick load. No more “what ifs”. Especially if I could retain my knowledge.
I think teleportation takes it for me as well. Can’t see any downsides and lots of usefulness.
For me it would probably be invisiblity.
I could literally get anywhere without anybody knowing plus I also get the opportunity to prank friends, family etc.
Bullshit man sounds good. You would get power of flying, superspeed, and super hearing by default.
It may be underrated but I think having magnetos powers could be incredibly useful.
Record dreams in my mind and visualize at any time like a projector
Teleportation would be an amazing power, but in the interest of “fairness”, each power should have realistic limitations. Based on your descriptions, you would also need the power of remote vision so you don’t teleport into an object or person. I feel like that’s an extra power.
Also, teleporting seems like it shouldn’t be effortless, and there should be some kind of limit to the mass you can teleport with you.
Time travel would be mine. Could stop every major disaster and can always go back and fix past mistakes without relying on one thing or another.
