  • I hate the state of our world as it is right now. It’s been itching inside my head for quite some time alreadu. It probably is somewhat political, because it probably has something to do with capitalism, but I can’t understand how a population that has never been so productive still has to work their ass off in order to simply eat and lay in a bed safely. The more I think about it, the less sense it makes and the more I hate how natural it is for seemingly everyone around me.

I’m not one of these people, despite also not being wealthy at all, I have a job, I don’t get paid top dollar but I have a safe house, food on the table and I can do a little bit more with my money, and yes, that’s it, EVERYTHING seems to revolve around money.

  • Home smart devices in general. I’m avoiding Alexa, Siri or any other thing like that. Besides the obvious privacy issues I see about them, I can only imagine being alone at home, Alexa thinking something talked to her and responding in a distorted voice. No, thanks.

I’m considering a home assistant at some point, by setting up a proper network for the smart devices alone, but that’s as far as I’ll go.

  • Yes, it is paid. I recently signed up for the 30 day play as a test drive and see if it made sense to me… And it really is game changing.

Torrent may be enough most of the time, but Stremio has a serious problem about speed, I don’t know why. I enabled the “ultra fast” settings in the menu, but I can’t get the same speed I’d get downloading the same torrent through any torrent client.

It made it impossible to watch 4gb movies, for example, I was basically stuck with lower quality 1-2gb ones.

Real debrid changed that. I watched a 17gb one the other day just fine.

If some movie isn’t available through RD, you can signal RD to download it and it will be available to you (and others) a bit later as well, but I haven’t really needed it so far.

  • Money belts are coming back, but not the old style. We’re wearing it across the chest, like a bag. They’re even making money belts with more of an adjustable belt so that you can use however you want/feel better. Basically, becomes a bag.

I really wish it would be more mainstream. I always wore shorts with more pockets because fuck I didn’t like holding shit in my hand. Recently, shorts with pockets haven’t really been a thing, so I gave the money belt a chance and I really like its utility. Nothing inside my short pockets anymore.

  • Repeat above for the use of “nazi”. The use of the word has become devalued because people like to fling it at folks with milquetoast centrist opinions, save it for people who are legitimately evil.

Yup, I said the same thing to people around me, when the use of the word “fascist” became a thing in my country. Even clearly moderate opponents were being called fascists left and right. I told people around me that the word would lose its meaning and power. That’s exactly what happened, and when an actual fascist came up, you had nothing against him and its supporters transformed the term into a joke.

  • The first one already happens, no? Before the last few updates, if you opened a link to a community that “via” another instance, you were kinda screwed. You could see it as a “guest”, but not interact to it. In the recent updates, if you try to interact with it, it will open a popup to ask if you wanna open it in one of the instances you have an account.

Dunno if I misunderstood your point, tho.

The second one is kinda hard, because images already put a lot of pressure on instances storage-wise. Videos would be even more, and not only much more storage needed, but also throughput. I don’t really see it happening any time soon, not really because of the apps, but because of the platform itself and its federated nature.
