I just tried to subscribe to !worldnews@lemmy.ml, and it tells me Subscribe Pending, what does it mean?

So, since you’re subscribing to a community on a different instance it can take some time for the federation to pass all the data back and forth between lemmy.ml and feddit.de. Especially with how much traffic these sites are generating right now, it can take several hours to update to an actual subscription. In the meantime, you should still see posts on your feed, but it will be a while before the Fediverse at large recognizes your subscription.

In other words, its just taking a while for your data to traverse the series of tubes because they’re clogged with so many people accessing the sites all at once. The wave of reddit refugees has significantly slowed down each site as well as their ability to federate data amongst each other quickly.

    Hope this helps.

Leaving a comment in hopes to increase visibility. And saved, I’d like to know the answer too.

I have 6 ‘Subscribe Pending’, some for more than a day now. All for communities on lemmy.ml. Other subscriptions to lemmy.ml worked though.

I guess that’s because lemmy.ml is overwhelmed by the amount of new lemmings coming to their instance. Furthermore, the instance is still down, so I think that’s the reason.
