As you know, part of the protest includes us users not accessing Reddit at all.
My curiosity got me and I opened r/all.
Here’s a screenshot, so you don’t have to open Reddit.
Thanks mate. Not going to be an easy transition for many of us.
No doubt, I even tried swiping to upvote your comment. When Apollo goes I’ll for sure have to deal with some withdrawals 🙃
Which app is this?
The mlem app is working on swipe to upvote feature according to their github issues list.
Happened to me too. I will miss Apollo for sure.
I need long-press to hide child comments.
Hahah, on mobile here, I keep trying to do the same thing.
I wonder if Christian would make a lemmy app? Anyone know if he’s joined the lemmy world?
Same with sync :( imma miss it
I’m having apollo withdrawals as well! Lemmy feels so gross to use on mobile compared to apollo, I just want to cry at this point
i think i’d be fine if lemmy could just load consistently
It’s a temporary issue due to the floods of new users. Some instances are handling orders of magnitude of higher traffic. It’ll stabilize after a bit
Notices the BDSMstuff multireddit
A degenerate of refined tastes…
Also “Traps” 🧐
Yeah, I wasn’t suitably caffeinated at that point
an elegant subreddit of a more civilized age
If I’m not mistaken, traps is also… A trap
Damn, I didn’t notice that one.
The thing that caught my eye too…
I love how some subs like r/leagueoflegends act like as if everything is fine lmao
Not surprised by League of Legends fans acting like everything is fine with a shit company they happen to use a product from.
Maaan, as a frequent League player and LoL esports viewer, I am so mad at that subreddit’s mods for not even bringing up the blackout to the userbase. At least the Valorant and it’s competitive subs went dark, the League community gives 0 fucks and will keep posting 100 complaints a day about how x is overpowered, or Riot are hypocrites for having gay characters or something.
Sorry for the mini rant. I hope we get a LoL (or at least an esports) community here on Lemmy so I never have to go back there again.
Isn’t the league sub in the pocket of riot? Makes sense that corporate wouldn’t take part in the protestå
More or less. It’s not even a good place for discussion. It’s like 99% just eSports news.
Honestly this The Game used to be healthier and was much fun back when it wasnt centred around eSport.
na the LoL sub is actually owned by riot (which would be a violation of the reddit terms of service) but everyone just goes along with it.
The mod team is majority riot sock puppets.
What makes riot a shit company? Just curious.
Good question! Riot games has a history of being a toxic work environment, from the early days, but if you search for “riot games harassment”, you can find many examples of the entire company not being worth spending money or time on, despite perhaps making progress the past couple years in the bottom rings of the company.
Here’s one article that summarizes my feelings: https://www.wired.com/story/riot-games-ceo-culture-complaints/
fat sides with fat
The warhammer subreddit I frequent was making fun of the blackout and was questioning who even used 3rd party apps
They are actively deleting all comments about it on the pinned post
typical league life
Cheers, this satisfies the curiosity I’ve been fighting
You DA real mvp
Thanks for posting, I was curious myself but resisted the urge. Not a very interesting frontpage.
Thank you! I was curious but I wasn’t going to give them a single page view during blackout. Honestly I doubt I will give them any after 30th unless they back down on the API changes. Crazy thing is if they had given 90 days warning for devs to adapt I’d have happily paid a sub to Apollo. Now they don’t get anything from me.
I’m amazed that r/programming is still private seeing as spez is literally one of the mods there
If he wants he can probably even have subs unprivated that he doesn’t moderate. But that would just increase the backlash.
Im happy to see it on the /all page. Lets go!
I was hoping someone would take the hit for us, thanks for sharing that.
It’s weird. I thought I’d miss it, but I’ve just read other stuff instead.
It’s been like this all day, great stuff! I just wish the subreddits that are live would go private too. Mind you, if 3rd party apps stay then lemmy might lose some users, much easier to go back to something you know
I would try to use both things. We truly need alternatives.
Yeah me too, there’s smaller subreddits I follow that I will genuinely miss but I won’t use the official Reddit app, not when I’ve used better apps that they have shut down
It would’ve been amazing if existing apps (Apollo) redeveloped their app to work with Lemmy instead. This would’ve dented reddits userbase for sure
Why does it look so different?
Love to see it
