    In Google results yes, but @SirLotsaLocks@lemmy.ml asked about (I assume, verbal) conversations. For someone who doesn’t know the GIMP editor, what are the chances that they’ll visualize some latex fetish when you mention it?

      Exactly, what are the chances? For example I hadn’t even heard of the word gimp as in BDSM context before this and I’m actually into BDSM.

      You also have to realize big big majority of the world is not USA. For example there are 1Billion people in India and they often learn how to use GIMP in schools, just by that scale alone latex definition has no right to even compete with GIMP — the Gnu Image Manipulation Program.

        I’m actually from a French-speaking country, but assumed that the whole discussion was centered on English-speaking countries (since “gimp” is an English word), and thought that “gimp” was a well-kown BDSM term. So yeah, it sounds like all of this drama around G.I.M.P. is a consequence of a vocal minority.
