The only stable enough Linux-based mobile OS to be used with a Pixel 2 XL would be Ubuntu Touch, otherwise you will have much better luck with android ROMs like LineageOS.

The server is most likely overloaded and doesn’t answer with a usable payload in a timely manner. Retrying after some time is usually enough.

I see some Lemmy results quite fine. Google results need some time to be indexed.

Short answer: it should be us, the community. In practice it’s the instance owner and some of the biggest instances already have crowd funding in place we can participate in.

Is it working at a large scale? Maybe not, we will see.

Is it more sustainable than a company funded by VCs trying to make money of ads that everybody wants to block? Yeah definitely.

It’s tmux (a terminal multiplexer), its theme is generated with the tmuxline.vim plugin (it takes the theme from vim, generated by the vim-airline plugin)

I’m using nix-doom-emacs which allows a declarative doomemacs installation, unfortunately it’s currently kind of broken and we are stuck with a big drift with doomemacs upstream (pinned commit is this one from september 2022, issue to bump the doomemacs dependency is here and it’s not very active). It’s still usable though.

The creator of doomemacs is a NixOS user and he just uses the usual install process, so it might be the better way in the end.

Unfortunately this type of computer (2 in 1, x86 tablets, etc.) has generally very limited IO and a strange BIOS configuration (32-bits UEFI) that makes installing Linux more difficult than on a normal laptop (not impossible though).

You will need to provide us with the exact model you have in order to know exactly what’s ahead of you.
