I was just trying to flag down a 500GB 7,200RPM SATA disk at a REASONABLE price and FINALLY ordered a “Used-Acceptable” unit from Amazon ringing up at $18.14 before taxes.

PCLiquidations not only lost that sale and let’s be honest here they probably didn’t care about that but I am also left with I am not kidding like $300 or so worth of used hardware on me including a HP laptop (without the HDD) that I am now unable to sell off.

I am gonna try to instead see if I can find anybody who can benefit from them but that’s removing a fair bit of used hardware from the market.

Which I am completely frustrated, what if you wanted to build a “used system” from scratch? Good luck finding a used quality CPU/APU, SSD, HDD, cables, RAM Modules, Power Supply, etc.

This is utterly ridiculous that I couldn’t find readily available stocks for the reliable hardware I was seeking for.

This place has this kind of mission - repc.com maybe there is something around you. They have an ebay store with limited stock, but they’re mostly built around in person shopping.

It might be that they don’t list modernish hardware on their ebay listings but according to https://www.ebay.com/str/repconlinestore/Drives-Media/_i.html?_storecat=6492099 they don’t even carries yesteryears 500GB and 1TB HDDs.

I would love to ring them up for in person inventories to see if they had modernish gears at their in person stores but I am in Ohio so no where close.

So once again at least for their online inventories it falls under “your grandparents” hardware not your “mom’s hardware” at the very least. I am really looking for REAL hardware that you and I would wanna use for our “day to day” computings not “vintage” or “retro” hardware.

        “your grandparents” hardware

My grandparent’s hardware always topped mine :) I thought they’d at least pop some good stuff in the online store instead of just 10 different kinds of zip disks, etc. They must have enough demand locally for the non-vintage inventory. Sorry for the goose chase.

I know right?! Thanks for caring to reassure me that is awkward that this was weird and you understood me very much. :)

Not a problem also, thanks for making that clear to me. :)

It’s indeed confusing that I am seeking for 2.5" drives considering that they are frequently labeled as “Laptop drives” HOWEVER rest assured that I am not gonna use them into such.

The reason that I am seeking such is because I have a 5.25" high quality hot swappable 2x2.5" drive caddies. It’s got the works of rubber stabilizing mounts and all so I was very surprised of this unit and uses it for LVM RAID 1ing for my mass storage needs and backing up offsite data as a 3rd backup mean. Just in case “hell breaks loose” as saying goes.
