Amazingly stupid!
Legalizing sex-work to appease the incels. One of the worst arguments for the legalization of sex-work I’ve ever seen in my life. Does she not realize this just puts the workers in even more danger? Are the workers not allowed to say no to clients or what?
These pro-rape industry threads seem to make the rounds on twitter every few months. Brings out the worst “men are entitled to sex and its ableism to be against that” reactionaries, and pro-sex-trade anarchists.
Seems like there’s pests among us.
Liberal infiltrators 🤮
If people want to have sex with anyone they meet, fine, do it. As long as there is consent.
Just don’t make an abusive industry out of it, again. Sex is not a commodity.
Sex is not a human right or necessity. Cope.
Hey I have a very unknown esoteric yet simple solution for men who feel sexually frustrated, so first step you grab your dick with your hand…
In communist utopia everyone gets a free sex bot.
sad to say that sex bots are bourgeois. obama owns one.
Incels hate this one simple trick!
So not only does she want to legalize paid rape and the commodification of women, she wants to do it because she thinks people have a “right to sex”.
Just when you think libshits can’t get any worse, they go and do or say some shit like this.
Are the workers not allowed to say no to clients or what?
That (sort of obviously but i guess not obviously enough) is not what she meant; some hours later she followed up to clarify and also said “I regret my word choice”.
The comments don’t leave much for hope either
Criminalizing sex work puts its management in the hands of criminals, promoting slavery and abuse. Legalizing sex work allows workers to create safer working conditions and take the management away from organized criminality. Regulating and regularizing sex work allows for health/communicable disease screening, taxation and workers benefits (health care, retirement). It also takes a big weight off of the criminal (in)justicel system. There is no legitimate reason to criminalize sex work other than forcing your own (often hypocrytical) morality on others who do not share it.
fuckin weirdo
I’m fine with legalizing sex work. However, all the workers will have rights and keep all benefits of said work.
It’s not about being bigoted, it’s about seeing beyond the spectrum of bourgeois politics. The capitalist state can only struggle against sex work in a reactionary manner that put the sex workers in greater danger without killing the industry. The Marxist way of abolishing sex work is by giving all women vocations and jobs and never letting one having no other option than sex work. When this is achieved, there will be no sex industry, and if someone has a fetish of giving/ recieving money for sex well that’s private matter
This is spot on, but I also want to say that Marxist feminists don’t prefer the term “sex work”, which was invented by a bourgeois liberal feminist in the 60’s who wanted to try out prostitution as a lifestyle choice. We prefer the term sex trade, sex industry, and people trapped / forced / trafficked into the sex trade, to refer to the 99% of mostly women who are trapped there and have no physical or economic means to escape. The term “sex work” makes it seem as though the 1% of independently wealthy people who have the financial ability to enter and exit the sex trade, represent the other 99%, and turns the coercion of the rape industry into a “free choice” , and “necessary labor”.
I find that dubious and still demonizing sex.
Ok yeah buddy sure sex is evil and oppressive and its ban shall be enforced by the volcel police, that’s totally what I’m saying, ignore the fact I focused exclusively on the economic conditions of women under capitalism
You yourself said you want to abolish the sex industry. This isn’t based on anything other than cultural veliefs.
Sure buddy it’s indeed a vestige of ancient times to consider that the monetary obligation to provide intimate relationship to a client is rape. Obviously my culture never normalized rape and prostitution that’s totally the other way around. I’m a reactionary because selling women’s intimacy is brand new and I react to it that’s what you mean right? Feudal marriage and borthels that’s some crazy feminists innovation!! Bring back the good old “everyone gets to decide their availability for sex”, and the even older “if you have to earn money in life then you don’t truly consent to work” of the immemorial traditions
how is it demonizing sex when sex is not the aspect being criticized, the financial & transactional component is?
Except in this case is quite demonized. You can criticize any financial component but for some reason we focus on sex like it’s some sort of taboo.
I think, if we’re to view this from an ethical point of view, sex means many different things to many different people. Examples: sex is for procreation, sex is for pleasure, sex is a uniquely bonding experience, sex is for love, sex is unappealing and unimportant, sex is wonderful and extremely important. None of these ideas are definitively true or untrue, but peoples’ opinions on sex vary wildly. From my perspective, we are not treating sex as taboo, sinful, distasteful etc and many of us have views regarding sex reflected in the examples above… we are criticizing financial, transactional coercion – and coercive sex is… not “sex” as it is commonly understood, it is sexual assault or rape. Even in the unlikely circumstance that the John and the person in the sex trade are attracted to each other and both are very happy to be having sex, there exists a huge power imbalance that cannot meaningfully lend itself to totally consensual sex. Money is food, shelter, transportation, medicine. Money is life. The John in this scenario sits atop one of the most incredible power imbalances that could possibly exist without straight up having a literal weapon - the threat of financial violence. The way a boss holds our livelihoods over our heads on the barest of strings they can slice at any minute, except for the vast majority of us, we don’t have to get fucked by our bosses. This financial, transactional, coercive nature of prostitution/the sex trade is what makes it undesirable, not puritanical ideas about sex. In the manner I have described it, there is no better word to describe this ‘sex with threat of violence’ than rape, and as communists and feminists it is important that we talk about this and shine a light on the millions of people being sex-trafficked (~25 million at any given time!) and abused being swept under the rug via a narrative ever-shifting towards “sex work is real work”.
